I would be lying if I hadn't thought about starting my own business but have a couple of fairly fundamental problems

    1) You have to have an idea...as much as anything over the last year my spark and creativity seem to have completely gone down the tubes.
    2) I think that you need some experience of the world of work and how business operate before jumping into it yourself. Perhaps in a year or two I will have a greater knowledge of what is required etc.
    3) Obviously finance would be a major challenge. I tend to be fairly conservative with money and risking a wad of cash on a venture would be uncomfortable.

pretty much everything that im also worried about if i went SE,

Just told my company to make me redundant now, 5 days commuting with a daily round trip of 4 hours is for mad people. With a little homeworking it could have worked out however the company has said no to one or two days working from home. Will be very glad when I formally leave :rotfl:

Incidently my boss works from home some days

Well what a bad start to the week.

Open up the e-mail box...2 e-mails and 2 rejections...well I suppose it can only get better?

At least you're getting responses! I have still not heard a dickie bird from anything I've applied for over the last few weeks. I'm most annoyed as I'm currently sticking to jobs that are similar to what I currently do so I at least expected some correspondence :(

    Fed up of this already....

How is everyone today on this hot day, can i just ask would it be an issue if i were to hand an application form in for a job i applied for but via email. I want to double my chances of getting the job but then at same time I dont want to harm my chances.

I think it would help as it shows a genuine interest in the job and doubles the chances of someone actually reading it!

Although I've been working for the past 3 weeks in my new job, it's only a fixed term contract till March and I'm ultimately looking for something permanent which is a bit more challenging, and better paid.

I've found interviews come in waves - I had 3 in one week (which resulted in me getting the job I now have) but today took the biscuit - 2 interviews in one day, pretty much back to back! I can't even say how stressed out I was beforehand, I'm so glad they're over. I definitely feel less nervous doing interviews now, thanks to the many I've been to these past few months, but I would like to find something permanent soon so I don't have to worry about the process (hopefully) for a good while.

I am still looking daily for jobs and things have definitely gone a bit quiet for summer. I hope things pick up soon and we have some more job offers to celebrate :)

that was my thinking as well, i just didnt want to end up with 2 interviews for the same place but i was going on the idea that 1 person wouldnt talk to another sort of thing.

    thanks

ps still no word from 2 interviews ive had lately where the interviewer said they would get back to me, Id pop down there but i can't remember the name of the person who interviewed me to then ask for.

Well it was my first day back at work after almost two years out of the full-time market and it felt like I'd never been away!

Lots of thumb twiddling and small talk etc as there always is on the first day. Some warnings about office politics (nothing unusual) and generally everyone was really nice.

    Phew!

After absolutely nothing happening for ages, my husband has a second interview tomorrow (first was in April!), a first interview on Friday and a 3rd interview in two weeks time.

Please, please let there be some good news from this lot. We'd prefer Friday's or the one in two weeks location-wise, but he needs to be doing something he's been going round the twist.
