Thank you for your kind words guys! Just needed to get it all out of my system - I cannot bear the thought of not finding work until summer is over though! That really frightens me....

Good luck DCFC79 - hope you get that call today :)

Fed up with uphelpful remarks today, feel like biting someone:mad:

o/h thinks I may come across as over enthusiastic, sorry but that is my personality mate!

Soon to be ex-Employer getting shirty because although I am on gardening leave, I am expected to be available throughout the day in case they may want to arrange a meeting. What do they expect, me to twiddle my thumbs during working hours then cram private appointment outside core hours. BTW I am available most days

emailed another employee about my woes above and gave examples of private appointments. Unfortunately one of the examples I gave was hair appointments which was picked on. I have never cancelled a meeting due a hair appointment, it was just an example, grrrrrrr

This forum is really good for venting frustrations!

No phone call then? Sorry to hear that :(
  • Not much going on here at the moment. There seems to be less and less vacancies advertised as the weeks go by and I'm due to sign on on Monday which I don't look forward to in case I get the jobsworth advisor (there's only one - the others are all lovely) who always tells me I'm filling in the diary wrong!

(Some time back I think I posted on here that the jobsworth person had said to me that if I write in my diary that I looked in my local paper and there were no suitable vacancies I should pick any vacancy and explain why I haven't applied for it. The advisor I saw the last time thought this was hilarious when he asked me why I had written it.)

However I've been for a nice walk along the canal today with my nephews and had a pub lunch with the money their mums gave me (obviously for expenses only!) which was lovely as its a really warm day today, we saw lots of narrowboats including one that was going through a lock which my nephews thought was brilliant when I explained locks are for going up and down hills in a boat. I'm shattered now though.

    Hey all,

I'm sorry to hear things aren't great for job hunting :(

Keep your spirits up. I have just been asked to start full time in my job on Monday so I've ended up exactly where I wanted to be in the end although it's been a slow process! It went from temp to part time to full time so don't rule out doing temp work, it can often get your foot in the door and if a perm job comes up you'll be asked to interview more often than not.

Apart from that, have some hugs and chocolate ;)
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.
  • Have to say I'm a bit down today :( I have about 4 weeks left of my current contract and the chances of having something lined up for after are dwindling. I also haven't heard a dickie bird from the jobs I've applied for in the last couple of weeks, all jobs in similar discipline to what I do now so I'd at least hoped for some interviews :(

Haven't even seen anything new to apply for in a while either.
