I was taught the correct way to address a letter is
Dear Ms Smith (on something like a job application)
Dear Jane (if you know her and she would expect you to use her name)
but NEVER Dear Jane Smith or Dear Ms Jane Smith - they are just wrong.
thanks, so putting Ms Smith is perfectly fine0 -

Yes absolutely fine. If it does mention in the advert that she is Mrs/Miss Jane Smith, use Mrs Smith or Miss Smith, however if a title isn't given, go with Ms Smith. The use of Mrs or Miss if you don't know which it is, is another no-no!Make £2025 in 2025

Hi all,
Bit of hopeful news for me today. Have just had a phone call from a job I applied for last week, it's only a temporary contract via an agency but it's full-time and would at least keep me going until after Christmas.
At least it's the first bit of hopeful news I've had!0 -

A bit of hopeful news from me as well. I've got to go for a computer test on 2nd August for an Admin Assistant post I applied for with the local fire service. I've not had an interview for ages!
Good luck Scottishgirl, fingers crossed for us both!
PS I've got no idea where that angry face came from on my post!0 -
Some good news for lots of people this week....................
Including me! :j
I went for my second interview which included quickly meeting the director and then being offered the job. I even managed to squeeze an extra £1000pa out of them. I start a week on Monday so now the panic begins as I try to tie up all my loose ends in Edinburgh ready for the proper move in a month. Staying with friends in the meantime so I have a month's salary to move with.
What a relief to finally be employed, I can start having a life again!0 -
Still waiting to hear anything from my interview on Wednesday...they said it would today at the very latest (90% of hearing yesterday) so I am fairly sure it is bad news as I have had 2 or 3 interviews where I have never been told a decision.
Also very annoyed as the phone has gone 5 times today...each time I leap into action and despite being TPS registered have had 3 salespeople and 2 criminals.0 -
The thing im worried about is i need a perment job, and what happens if i get made redundent from that back to square 10

Congrats to everyone who found a job this week!
Received feedback from my interview and I lacked experience of the sector that they were in (i.e., they found someone who had that knowledge). I have two interviews promised for next week, so am quite relaxed.
Today I visited a place that I had driven past many times but never visited. I am really enjoying the freedom and making the most of my time off.0 -
Husband is still waiting on a date for his 3rd IV for a job he wants, but has been told he has a second interview for a job he doesn't want in a difficult location, sometime next Wednesday but we don't know what time yet.
I dragged him off for a walk by the canal earlier to get a bit of fresh air........... just happened to park in a pub carpark........... so it would have been rude not to pop in for a drink, even though it was 3.30pm.....
There were a load of school-teachers celebrating the end of term on somebody's leaving do. Tough life being a teacher!

CONGRATULATIONS!
It isn't easy looking for a job at the other side of the country (I did it with the move to Cardiff from Edinburgh) and you did it all so fast
I hope it all works out well for you, have a drink or three to celebrateJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0
