Congrats Drea! :) You made it!

Recruitment seems to be such a long process these days... My references and Occupational Health check have been cleared and I finally got my start date yesterday... 30th August! When I got the job offer I was told I would expect to start on the 4th July. Unfortunately not entirely the recruitment team's fault... my previous employer who was suppose to give me a reference kept conveniently forgetting (no wonder I left - incompetence!)... in the end I had to ask a family friend to give me a character reference instead. Being the last person to get cleared, I ended up with the latest start date :(

Aww, sorry to hear that! I'm sure it will fly by and you'll be starting work before you know it!

I received a rejection email today, it was the job I posted a thread about not being able to read music but I did as a teen. Thought it'd be a long shot, oh well. The vacancy only closed on the 18th so I'm happy they've got back to me in such a quick time, I'm still waiting to hear about other jobs I've applied for that closed before that one!

My current contract at work may be extended by another 2 weeks but I really don't have a clue at the moment. Feeling totally in limbo by it and I really just want a full-time, permanent job but they're so hard to come by :(

been to a meeting at the New deal provider today. Have not long left on FND but might be going straight onto the work programme. They dont know, one says one thing, the job centre say another. I find out end of next week. Not that the work programme is any different to the New Deal anyway yawn.

Congratulations to everyone who has found work :)

I am waiting to hear back from three interviews that I had at the start of the week. If I don't get any, I will be truly gutted!! :( My heart is pumping so fast, because I should be hearing back from the one I really want today.... EK!!

Amazon are looking for staff in Staffordshire (Rugeley) and somewhere else I can't remember for their warehouses.

I thought that might be a heads up to those who are in those areas and still looking for jobs.

yes i saw that and was hoping they might have opened up a new warehouse closer to me but alas they werent. Found out last week that someone who i used to work with has left his job (place i was made redundant from) as he had enough which doesn't suprise me as they were getting a bit annoying to work for.

no one seems to know anything about the work program at the job centre.

I had to see the Lone parent advisor last week and she warned me that if I haven't found a job by November I'll be put on the work program, but she couldn't give me any details about how many hours etc I will have to do or if there are going to be any provisions for people with children. She said she has worked for the JC for 36 years and this is the first time ever that she hasn't been able to give people the information they need, simply because NO ONE knows :(

Its a bit of a worrying time. I'm happy to go on a work program as it will give me some recent experience and thats what I desperately need, but I also have a son who's too young to be left alone. I have no childcare and there are no pre/after school clubs round here so if they are expecting me to do 30 hours a week from 9am on a work program what the heck am I supposed to do with my son?

Being really lazy today. Been promised an interview next week and waiting to hear from the interview I had earlier this week. In the meantime I have been 'saving money' by shopping at Lidls, the house is full of jars and interesting food

I was taught the correct way to address a letter is

Dear Ms Smith (on something like a job application)

Dear Jane (if you know her and she would expect you to use her name)

but NEVER Dear Jane Smith or Dear Ms Jane Smith - they are just wrong.
