I agree, would send a covering letter but not a cv as well as the application form!
I'd only send the application form to the address on the form, not the business address. Hope you get an interview out of it!

oh well, well i have got a copy of the form, i handed it in to where i got the form from you see as to me that seemed logical thing to do. I at least know its reached the destination whereas posting it i wouldnt have an idea if it was received.

Not alot happening for me today but it's a bank holiday in Glasgow so wasn't expecting much.

I really hope I get a phone call this week from a job I applied for a couple of weeks ago that had a closing date of last week. I'm going to phone them towards the end of the week anyway as the job would be perfect!

    good luck,

Made my phone calls yesterday and as a result do not need to take up the job which was 2 hours away. Back to the job search after 2 weeks holiday and finding I need to ease myself back into the right mindset. Need to ease in quickly though as I have an interview this afternoon!

I'm in London and have realised I missed the place a lot more than I thought!

I had my interview and agency interview yesterday. First one went well I think, wasn't really a structured interview and I had to find ways of blowing my own horn as he only really asked me yes or no answers, clearly not a practised interviewer...............

I also had an email late last night from an agency I spoke to last week and had all but given up on, he thinks he has an interview for me too for a pretty well paid position in Canary Wharf.

I really really want to secure something this week as I have a house lined up to move into at the end of August from an acquaintance and it would be so perfect I would be gutted to have to let it go. Plus I have to give notice on my current flat and if I miss the 5th I'll have to wait a whole other month again, argh!

Off out for lunch with a friend today, his treat :D

I thought things were going quiet, but they've just picked up again - had an interview yesterday and now have another one on Thursday.

Just goes to show you never can tell what's around the corner.

One day I might even get a job! ;)

    Good Luck to you both!

Looking for a bit of advice....how long after a closing date would you guys recommend calling to follow-up? I know there's a bit of a debate on whether to call to follow-up at all but it's a job I really fancy and have the skills for so I'd like to do anything possible to help get an interview.

I also think I've decided to set myself up a website as a bit of a CV. I used to do quite a bit of web-design as a teen but I've slipped out of it the last few years and it's something I enjoy so I'm going to try and set up a firstnamelastname.com to try and "sell" myself (not in that way! ;)).

I haven't done that myself (only following interviews) but maybe a week, week and a half after the closing date - did they say when they would contact candidates or provide a potential interview date?

Good luck with the website - happy to do some proof reading for it if you'd like!

No, no word on when they would be getting back to people. They did email me saying "my application would be dealt with asap" which means I can't really phone to see if they've got my application, lol. I did sneakily find an internal document (via a Google search) that suggests they should get back to people within 10 days of closing date but I don't know how up-to-date the document I found is.

When do you find out from your interview yesterday? Fingers crossed for you!

Hey all! Sorry I haven't been posting lately, I've been a bit down about my job thinking I wasn't going to get my permanent role after all.

But today I heard that my screening went through okay and as from today I was permanent :)

I have been reading and keeping up with everyone, good luck with the interviews and hopefully we get some good news on here again soon, it's been a while since the last!
