I need some CV help. I'm having some difficulties in putting down the correct word or phrase but I was at uni for a couple of years but left before I could complete it. I sought some help from a local training provider (Working Links) who said that I should not mention that I went to uni at all and to say I went on holiday for those years. Obviously this is a lie. I had left it blank without saying what class I got (or didn't rather) but now have put down 'incomplete'. It probably shows up as I'm a quitter (I have my reasons for leaving). I've never left a core education course before but I'm not sure what to do now...thanks in advance.
I also did not finish my degree. What I was advised to do is put down B.A. in X FIELD, XX% complete due to XXXX (in my case it was relocation). It hasn't been an issue so far that I'm aware of.
I think it is far better to say you've been to University than not - it shows you have the aptitude to go, but for whatever reason you didn't complete.0 -
I've just completed my first full week of employment in over 3 months and am feeling very tired! Luckily enough it's a bank holiday in Glasgow so I get a nice long weekend to help me recover.
I found out today I hadn't got a job I'd had an interview for over 3 weeks ago. This was before I had the interview for the job I started on Monday. I think it's ridiculous keeping people hanging on so long, though at least in this case I wasn't at all bothered at not being selected.
Sorry to hear you didn't get the job you were after, scottishgirl87. I am still looking, as the job as I have isn't very well paid and it's only a temporary contract till the end of March, though I think there's a good chance it could be extended. But it's great to be working and no longer having to fill out the Job Seekers' Diary, or sign on. The pressure is off and it feels mighty fine.
Good luck to everyone and I hope you're all back in work soon.0 -

Suppose at least the wait is over....
I'm sorry to hear that, hopefully something better will crop up soon!0 -

That's great, Joyce! I think part of the battle is it's very difficult to find full-time, permanent employment these days. My current contract at work finishes next month and I really really want to have something else lined up when it finishes but due to the amount of time everything takes these days I don't hold out much hopeI spent nearly 6 months unemployed last year and it was really, really, tough, I really don't know if I can go through it again.

Personally, I always include a covering letter with an application form. Might be just me but I wouldn't also include your CV unless they've asked for it. I generally get the impression that the reason organisations use application forms is because they don't want CVs. I think sending both might be a bit overkill but like I said, just my opinion.0 -

just never done it before and someone suggested doing it, theres not much thats on the cv that isnt on the application form so yes not much point in the cv.
Should asked this earlier as well, i was thinking of sending a copy to the address on the form and send a copy to the business who are advertising but would this annoy the $$$$ out of someone.0 -
Anyone else hate it when you send your CV and written application through e-mail and you get an automated response saying they'll be back in so-and-so day's time. What's the point of that?? I'd rather send my e-mail to someone who is available to read it. Time wasters! :mad:0

It's to acknowledge they have at least received it, I don't mind these, at least I know it's gone somewhere instead of off into the ether somewhere. Also, at least you know when to give up hope on a successful application instead of being left hanging.0
