I was speaking to my manager yesterday and he said "if you were asked to go full time, would you?" so fingers crossed I'll get a full time job soon
Doing 27.5 hours at the moment, could use the extra cash!Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Ahhhh, some good news on this thread, excellent. Hope all this good news turns into positive job offers. Congrats to 925dancer, you have my admiration for taking such a big step.
I had my interview this afternoon, it seemed to go well but i'm not sure that the hours and pay would make it worth my while in the long run. Still wait and see, there will be no news until next Wednesday apparantly.
Have a good weekend all.0 -
Congrats 925 Dancer on getting a job - you deserve it after all that effort.
Ads seem to have gone quiet for past couple of weeks - maybe summer - not sure. Heard from 1 company saying they hope I apply for a job so have done. I applied before but their HR said they couldn't interview me as I couldn't do a secondment. Now the job title has been changed to my old job title and they've readvertised with fixed term as an option. Heard from a half-time job (great for me as I have 2 children) I've got a test/interview (HR weren't sure themselves!) on 10 August. I went to 3 interviews in a week almost 3 weeks ago now - 2 gave rejections but 1 has come back as a rejection for that job but are trying to see if they have another suitable one and may get back to me in a few days. Not sure how seriously to take that - we'll see. Enjoying spending summer with the kids anyway and still lots of vol. redundancy pay period to go so not too bothered at the moment though it would be great not to have to do another interview - I hate them.
Good luck to everyone applying - hope you all get what you want soon.0 -
Had an interview earlier which sounded promising but then they all do dont they. Plus side is its not far from where i live so about 15 minutes in a car which might make getting up for work at 7 a little better0

Having a really bad day today...feeling utterly pathetic
Of course I haven't heard squeak from my interview last week and there is nothing on the horizon that I can even apply for.0 -
I finally have some good news!
Had a second interview today and got a call around an hour ago offering me the perm position!
I feel so relived/happy.
This site has been a godsend with tips/support when looking for work so thank you.0 -

Sorry to hear that you have had a bad day. Lets hope tomorrow turns up something better. At my outplacement interview today writing speculative letters was suggested. Try and find out the name of the head of department (I suggest linkedin as a starting place) of a company that you would like to work for and write them a good letter stating why you would be suitable. It might be worth a try.0 -

I was unemployed for nearly 6 months last year (so you can imagine I'm dreading a return to it next month) and I got to the stage where I started giving spec letters a shot. Now, I didn't send out masses, probably about 20 at most and only to companies where I could get a direct contact of the person dealing either with department I'm looking in or HR. As someone else mentioned LinkedIn is absolutely fantastic for that reason and so easy to find the right person to address a spec letter to via it so I definitely recommend using LinkedIn to find names.
I have to say, it didn't result in a job for me. However, I did get a couple of e-mail/letter replies and infact, I had one reply from a lady saying they were due to advertise the kind of job I was looking for in a couple of weeks and she would let me know. True to her word she did let me know and she even sent me the advert/job spec before it went out to press, so I had a "head-start" if you will.
As I said, didn't result in a job for me but I wouldn't rule out trying it again in the future as sometimes you could get lucky with timing.0 -
Two interviews lined up this week, then I guess it will become quiet for the 6 weeks of summer.
One of the Interviews will be tricky as the company is not what I want. Will be good interview practise though and there is a chance I will change my mind once I have met the people and found out more.
The company which I am on gardening leave wants to setup a meeting on the very day I have one of the interviews. Has anyone else had this problem and how did they get around it? (so far I have said I have a private appointment). Pretty sure that I have a legal right to unpaid time off to look for another job whilst at risk of redundancy but will check0
