    Hi all,

Was really positive on Monday and applied to some jobs which fit my experience perfectly. However, none of the recruitment agencies have got in touch - do you think it's worthwhile giving them a call or should I just assume that my application hasn't been progressed?

    Thanks,

    id give them a call,

When it is a warm day do you remove your suit jacket at the interview or keep it on. I kept mine on because i felt it was more formal, was this the right thing to do?

if it was hot in the room then i would have asked if i could take it off but i cant see leaving it on as a bad thing to do
  • Got a rejection email this morning. You know it's a bad time when you're actually happy about receiving a rejection email.....give me that any day over the deathly silence from everything else I've applied for :(

I would keep it on, unless in a particularly hot room, when I'd ask if I can take it off.
  • Thought I'd join the thread too- If I may? I have recently moved and started the task of looking for work. I have been applying for jobs since end of May- and had 1 face to face interview and 1 phone interview. I have had numerous rejections- too many to count- and I have had so many where I have not even heard back (do not really expect to hear back now either) After my phone interview I was rejected- Im not really sure why, as its exactly the same role I have been employed in previously- but hey ho... The face to face interview was interesting to say the least! The lady in question was the company director and spent most of the interview telling me all about the company- how great they were doing etc (which was interesting) She only asked me 1 question about myself- she just said tell me about yourself- and then proceeded to but in half way through and talk about the company again. She slated my CV by saying it didnt say anything about me in there and asked me was that the way CVs were done these days- Its lists all my skills, work experience, qualifications-is a page in length so dont know really what she wanted on there. She asked me was I having any more children- or if I was thinking of having any more children- She also asked about what I would for childcare for summer holidays etc- I told her I had a husband, as well as family and also there is a holiday club too- I cam out of that interview feeling really rubbish- the best thing she said to me was she had advertised 2 jobs and had 635 applications and not to be too disheartned if I didnt get the job as there was people who had been out of work longer than me and I should be grateful to have had an interview! Oh well- we will see what happens

Welcome to the thread. Your interview sounds like one I had a while ago. I sat down, the interviewer told me about the company and then asked if I had any questions, I asked what the job entails and he went on to tell me mostly telephone work and then spent about 10 minutes moaning about their customers and what a lot of complaining they did and that was the end of my interview! That's one of the few jobs that I have applied for that I was glad I didn't get as it was the most unorganised interview I had ever been to,

If it helps I went to a group computer test day with the local fire service yesterday - there were eight of us and no-one (male or female) was wearing a suit jacket, all of us were wearing short sleeved shirts and the men were wearing ties. I'm in the Midlands where it has been extremely hot and humid in recent days - I don't know if it is the same everywhere.

I had a job interview on Monday that went really well and the employer said that he will get back to me on Friday. I had a another job interview yesterday and got the job so I email the first employer and ask if he could give me feedback ASAP because I had a another job offer.

I have now turn down the second job offer because it is not suitable and now wish that I did not tell the first employer that I had another job offer. I have other job interviews for tomorrow and Friday but I hope that I have not mess my chance of getting the first job.

Just to say i went to a free business meeting for start ups at my local chamber today. It was very informative and got lots of info to take away and met other people in the same boat. They can help you the chamber and its confidential. They also have people they can put you in touch with.

If you are thinking of starting up and have questions try and see if your local chamber does meetings.

    HTH anyone.

Pleased with last 2 interviews, hope the interviewers felt the same. Good sign when you are shown where the coffee machine is and asked about dates for another interview:D

Liked both companies, could see myself happily working for either.

No news on the interviews last week, will chase agents tomorrow. I was keen on one of the jobs. Trying to get a new phone at the moment which is very time consuming
  • Just had a phone call - I'm through to the second round of an admin post vacancy at the local fire service:j and have got to go to an interview next week.

Its two bus rides from where I live and so I would probably have to run a car should I get the job. Do you think its OK to ask at the interview if there is a free parking place available - the starting salary isn't great and if I've got to pay for parking I might not be able to afford to work there!

I'm actually excited as I've not had an interview for ages so this means that I am not a complete waste of space!
