I lived in London before, already have friends down there. I have to find somewhere to live before I go as I have two cats who wouldn't be terribly impressed at being shoved in someone's shed for a couple of months ;)

There's no love lost between me and Edinburgh, I love the city but I'm claustrophobic for a number of reasons and would not be sad to leave!

My industry is residential lettings so I'm more than aware of moving costs, I have a plan for that too (need to check that's feasible as well).

My life has done the polar opposite of go to plan for the last 2-3 years, I've learned they're just a general synopsis of what I'd maybe like to happen and that actually nothing of the sort comes about!

    good luck,:)

Okay this week seems to be off to a better start than last week. I have a interview with a agency tomorrow for temp work which starts next week and I have done 5 job applications this morning.

The temp work will bring some money in until I can get a permanent role.

Well I received my first rejection e-mail today from a job I applied for on Friday! To be honest, it was a bit of a long shot anyway, didn't really match the requirements and it was quite a bit away from me but was something I'm interested in getting into. Oh well.

Got an application form to finish today but so far nothing new to apply for yet :( Decided I'm going to do a follow-up phone call on Friday for a job I applied for that's closing this week. The job would be perfect and I just want to do everything I can to possibly get an interview.

What a productive morning I've had! I sat and applied for about 30 property jobs yesterday in London, mostly through agencies which is why I could do so many!

Already today I have had 2 calls, one from an agency I didn't even apply for anything with, just off the back of my CV on one of the job sites, that hasn't happened for YEARS!

First blokey is happy to help with any proof for travel to interview applications with the Jobcentre which is good to know.

So apparently they are now beavering away and putting me forward for stuff, first bloke has called back once already.

This feels so much more positive and there's more activity in one morning than I've had since March up here. With any luck I might actually get some interviews and a little trip to London!

Hi - I took voluntary redundancy last month so am looking for jobs. Finding getting interviews fine (about 50% to 100% of jobs interview me) but not getting through the interviews. Very frustrating - been to about 10 interviews so far including 3 this week. Got a good payout so no financial pressure and got 2 kids so things to do but it's very frustrating. Wish I knew why I wasn't getting though interviews but feedback hasn't said much - just "experience was excellent but concerned about fit with team", or "other people had better experience" or "performance was fine, just to do with development of role in future" or sometimes they wanted a specific skill I didn't have. Wondering how many interviews its going to take? Not helped by DH saying can't believe you haven't got a job yet, you'll never get a job and you've been applying for so long.

Hi, I'm in the same boat. Took VR at the end of March and finally got a very part time job and started 2 weeks ago. I'm still looking for another part time job. Its a shame you havent been getting more constructive feedback...I found that really helpful. Good luck with your jobhunting and ignore your DH!

Good luck! I wonder if there is a big difference between the industry in Edinburgh and London. I didnt think that there was that much of a difference and that renting was on the increase up here too. Obviously not.

    Thanks.

The industry is much of a muchness but the size of the industry is the difference. Just not as many opportunities, only a few vacancies now and again vs loads of vacancies all the time in London. Just a numbers game.

Good Luck :) I think you just need to attend any interview possible unless you've got a secure job offer.

At least people seem to be getting back to you relatively quickly!
