As far as I am aware yes it is a CRB check. There is one which is disclosure scotland which I been asked to do twice even though I am located in England. It is a painless process the basic costing around £27 which I guess would be met by the employers

How come you have to go through Disclosure Scotland? Did you used to live/work in Scotland? I thought it was CRB in England/Wales and Disclosure Scotland up here. How bizarre...probably a money making thing.

Of course I may not get the job I've been invited to interview for, but I really feel I've got to make the effort to go to the interview. What do you advise I do? All advice gratefully received!

Its a tricky one Joyce. I'd be inclined to ask to start a week later to attend the interview...or could you ask your referees to delay things??

Stew - sorry about the interview result...that is just so maddening!

DCFC - too enthusiastic? I hate that question!

Yes it was. Doh! I didnt look at when you posted that question! Were you asked it today?

I'm sure I'm spending more on absolute rubbish to munch when I'm [STRIKE]wasting time on line [/STRIKE] looking for jobs on line.

Good morning all - just thought I'd give a quick update.

I am waiting patiently by the phone to see if I have got through to the 3rd stage of an interview! I'm getting very desperate for a job now... I hope they ring!

Good luck to anyone with interviews coming up or are starting a new job!

    Hi All,

I read these forums and this is one of the nicest threads...

I was made redundant in May 2010 and have been looking for jobs ever since...I worked for a month as a temp in dec 2010...i have been for several ( about 7 -8 ) and have been unsuccessful...attended two interviews last 2 weeks and one was a job that i would have loved...both came back today to say that i have been unsuccessful and that I am too qualified and experienced for these jobs...

i have worked for almost 10 years, of which 7 were from the same company.... I have not applied for any sort of benefits or for JSA, as I felt, it was wrong....now I am in real need of money and do not know what to do.....its depressing...how long to wait for a job? how long have others been without a job?? Can i now apply for JSA????

    just feeling let down..
    thnx

Arghh why are jobs still advertised despite being filled, why waste my time.

I agree. I applied for a job at Topps Tiles four weeks ago now as a receptionist. I got the thanks but no thanks email three weeks ago. This morning one of my email alerts was advertising a receptionist and I got all excited (a job that I can apply for at last) only to find when I opened the email that it was the one at Topps Tiles!

Good luck to everyone this week. I am getting so fed up with being unemployed. I think I might swing for the next person who tells me all about their wonderful holiday in the sun while I politely listen with tears in my eyes because I'm going absolutely nowhere and I am so fed up with spending most of my time stuck at home on my own!

I'm off to sign on soon. I wonder what delights they will make me apply for this week?
