I thought this would be the case. Just spoken to my Mom about it as I'm really worried. I'm doing everything I can and just hate how crap the economy is. Never ever thought I'd be out of work this long. My Mom has said if it comes to it her and my dad will set up with a weekly allowance to help me out as I'll only get £295 from student finance a year from what I can work out. Can't actually apply for it until August so I won't know the exact amount until then

Stephy - I''ve just sent you a PM regarding your post above which you might want to read.

I've been feeling like and unemployable failure this week. I actually said to my mum earlier in the week "I bet I'll be the last unemployed person to get a job" - stupid I know but that's how I feel.

I will try to, just had a shower and feel better now.

I think I do sometimes forget that I'm not alone, it's just tough competition for us all when there are so many people after the very few jobs that are around.

I shall tell myself it was their loss not mine :)

Excellent, glad to read that you have your fighting spirit back

So that's my educational aspirations over with for now and back to the jobs I was trying to get away from!

I'm starting to think that now is the wrong time to try and change career, and wondering whether it's best just to be happy for now in doing something I already have experience in, then look for something different when unemployment levels have gone down. Not quite ready to resign myself that option just yet though! I still live in hope someone will hire me based on potential rather than just experience!
  • asparagus, I hope your first week is going well.

    925dancer, good luck for tomorrow.

    Thanks!

I won myself a Designers Guild cushion today so my lucky streak is continuing, hopefully it lasts until mid morning tomorrow!

I really hope that you all have some good news soon. It seems that the morale on this thread goes up and down every few weeks. So by my theory you should all be due some good news soon!

Steph try to remember that we have all felt like that at some point when job hunting but you are obviously intelligent and hard working and I am sure that something will come up for you soon!

Drea have you had any news yet about what they are planning to do with you whilst they are waiting for your checks to come back?

Stew is it your interview tomorrow? Good Luck with it and let us know how you get on, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Good luck to the rest of you with interviews!

Hi Livermum. Yes my interview is 9.45 in the morning. Just back from a 2.00-10.00 shift at my temp job, then out by 9.00 in the morning to the interview, back home, shower, change, go to work for a 12.00 to 8.00 shift, home, shower, change, out to a party, home, bed and then back into work at 6.00 for a six hour shift. Think I might sleep the rest of the weekend!

This temp job is supposed to be a stopgap and to be honest without it i'd have been up the creek without a paddle. I have the ultimate respect for my current supervisor and manager as they've been where I have been and have no problem with employing people who might move on within a few months. There are good people out there, the problem is you just need to find them.

I hope we all get to hear some good news again soon.

Keep the faith all, take heart from the success stories we've had on this thread, it could be your turn soon.

I will be temping there the whole time, which is good but I'll feel awful if they kick me out after all that time!

Good luck for tomorrow Stew :)
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.
  • Good luck for today Stew.
