Well another rejection from the interview on Monday.
Completely back to square one - no-one ever replies and I am completely fed up.
Saw a 'Research' job a while back which looked up my street - send off a CV etc and hear zippo back.0 -
Applied for 3 asda jobs yesterday for a new store so hopefully i get a reply for 1 of them, 1 would be ideal as its what i used to do.0

Just spoke to the agency, she said she's been raving about me, no pressure then!
However, if it all goes t!ts up then I still have the Amazon assessment in July to keep me going but I would really like to just be back in work now so hopefully tomorrow does go well!0 -
I found three jobs to apply for this morning so been hard at work since 7.30am (a bit like the good old days!). None of them are particularly what I want to do but any port in a storm. I think I must have been getting a bit tired and jaded by the third one though as I forgot to attach my CV to the email (what an idiot) and had to send it again so I've probably already blown one of them.0

I know this is a bit random, but I'm hoping someone will be able to to help!
Where do you get women's suits from? Men seem to have a lovely selection, but I can't find any I like for women (and that are affordable!)
Any suggestions? Thanks
925dancer - good luck for the interview on Friday!!
I got mine in Debenhams - I got a dress, jacket and trousers which all match from the 'Collection' range. It didn't cost much either and looks super smart!
I start work on Monday and it's going to be a heatwave. I have assumed that like most places, the dress code will be smart casual (it's a call centre/admin environment so wouldn't expect it to be full on business dress). Do you think smart sandals will be acceptable footwear or do you think I should wear shoes? I can only wear shoes with tights/knee highs (whatever shoes I wear rub with bare feet) so this will be very uncomfortable for me given that it's going to be hot and I'm on the wrong side of a size 16! Sorry if TMI!!There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
Thanks everyone, I'll go looking for one where you've all suggested0

I think we bought identical suits, they are brilliant! (I bought both the grey and the camel) Personally I would play very safe the first day and wear tights and shoes in the office, assuming that it has air conditionning. Its a pain but given that men have little option but to wear shoes in the office, I guess that it is fair. At least we don't have to wear ties!0 -

Mine is black - probably the same suit though! They had a nice grey pinstripe too, is that the one you got?
It is an air conditoned building - it was a hot day when I went for my interview and it was definitely cooler inside. I just hate wearing shoes when it's hot, but I think you're right. I'll have a look and see what everyone else has on their feet on my first day. There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
I've just had my CV looked at at the Job centre today. The amount of !!!!!!!! these people come out with is unbelievable.
So first off the advisor had to criticise my use of colour. Why couldn't I use colour, I asked. She said because when employers print my CV off, it won't be in colour. Uhh, so what? When they view my CV on their computer, it will be in colour, or do these people use black and white monitors now? I then held my CV up in one hand, her dull and generic CV template she had given me in the other and asked her, if you were an employer, which CV would catch your eye first? She pointed to mine. Job done. I made my point.
Then she continued to nitpick the alignment of some of my information. According to the laws of CV writing (and these are very strict btw!), your contact details MUST be centred at the top of the page and ONLY on the front page. Mine were at the top, they were just aligned to the left and the main content flowed down to the right, and my CV finished on the second page with a recap of my email and tel. number at the bottom. Apparently this is all wrong!
In my employment history, dates MUST be to the right (I had mine to the left. Oops, silly me - how could I have made such a vital error!)
After all this I pointed out to her, that as I'm applying to web and graphic design agencies, these employers would turn down and laugh at any applicant that was not demonstrating and making good use of their creative license in their CV. She didn't get that.
Now she's gonna send me an "action plan" in the mail. Oh goody!
This is just more evidence that these people are just mindless drones and don't actually have any creativity or capability of thinking outside the box. :rotfl:0 -
