Well I applied for a couple of property manager roles yesterday which for Edinburgh is an over-abundance of property jobs!

Got a call from an agency recruiting for one of them and have a "meeting" with them tomorrow, just waiting for a call back to confirm time.

I'm so bored though I have decided to bleach my hair. if I had it my way I'd be dyeing it pink but that's really not going to help me get a job so blonde it is!

I volunteer in C.A.B, yes the wait can be pretty long sometimes. (I'm not sure what C.A.B you went to but most are first come first serve drop ins) I am going to be trained up at my voluntary work to be a supervisor, found out today is so exciting, means lots of courses at college and stuff all excellente for the CV.

I have an interview on the 1st for a betting shop lol miles from what I want but could do evenings so I could carry on voluntary work and looking for another job etc.

I am through to the next interview but there was a criticism that concerns me, i.e., I have a quiet personality. I need to work out I how to best tackle it at the next meeting without acting out of character.

Any suggestions? changing into a naturally loud person is unfortunately beyond my capabilities unless I enlist the help of vast amounts of alcohol

I sat down to do my 2nd assessment for my course about an hour ago and have so far done absolutely nothing lol. Procrastinating right now, this brings me back to Uni!

It was a C.A.B in the East Midlands. It was really busy when I went and by the time they saw me, I think it was lunchtime for all the advisors :) lol.

Well done for getting through to the next stage! :T

What are your hobbies? Do you do anything that involves other people, team activities, that kind of thing that you can use to highlight how you positively interact with other people? Would that help?
Or can you think of a (work-related) situation where you have had to be confrontational to get a resolution and been successful?

    Good luck!

I'm procrastinating too, but I'm in the middle of decorating and I've stopped to browse the internet and have found a couple of agency jobs to apply for ;)

Think I should go back to the paint now!

    Thanks for this

I can think of situations where i have needed to be confrontational and been very successful. Unfortunately they relate to my union role so don't want to cite them as examples:(

Racking my brain now for some good work related examples and how I can use my hobbies to help me. Thanks for the guidance

Can I ask what you've said about going to uni in September to the job centre? Do they know and do they accept that it has an impact on the types of jobs you're looking for i.e. part time/ temporary etc? I told the guy in the Welsh job centre to ask if I was eligible and he said yes but I'm nervous about what to say at my interview in the English job centre tomorrow. I assume it's best to be up front as realistically I don't want a permanent full time job so won't be applying for them. I'm available to work full time but only til the end of Sept then if I'm still claiming by then I'll sign off.

    Were they ok about it?

Yeah they were fine. My course will be part time so I'll need work to fit around it anyway. Said i'm looking for full time or part time work, though to be honest most jobs I've applied for have only been part time anyway
Steph, if you are doing an Education or Teaching course, I have some textbooks left over from my degree that I haven't yet sold on Ebay :).

    PM me if interested.

    I shall drop you a pm, there's 3 in particular I need

Stephy, try Amazon for books, loads of second hand sellers, I got an amazing book for about £10 that's usually about £30-40 for my course off there.

Thank you I shall have a look on there
