I am so pleased, they rang me about 10 minutes ago and offered me the job. I'm still shaking! I start a week on Monday.
The hours are going to be 11am - 5pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The best, best thing is that I get a free travel pass as a perk, so no more train or bus fares for me!!

Congratulations! :j:j:j:j
Still waiting to hear back from the interview I had last week, was told I'd hear early this week so hopefully that means before the end of Wednesday.
Found nothing new to apply for. Got an appointment at the job centre tomorrow which I'm not looking forward to. I was supposed to have my 4 week review last week but my advisor was off so the guy who phoned went over my job search on the phone with me, but has then booked me in with tomorrow! What a joke! Nothing has changed since I spoke to him last week. Will have to tell him it will have to be a quick chat anyway as I have an appointment about a volunteering opportunity at 5 and it will take me half an hour to get there. Welcome Charlie-Chan! Hope your interview goes well.
I've not got any more interviews lined up, only waiting on one reply now, and that's to find out if I'll make it to the second stage. It seems to have gone really quiet on the job front - hope it's not like this through the summer!
Best wishes,

It's definitely gone quiet. More jobs do seem to have been added to the job centre site but they are all still cleaning and engineer type jobs. Got 3 text books that are essential ones for uni that I have to buy so definitely need a job asap.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -

Can you get any of them second hand - or ask anyone either in the year above or just finishing whether you can buy theirs? Good luck!0 -

I've tried googling for second hand books, will try again and see if i can find anything more helpful, found one for £8 instead of £20 which is good but the other two are both over £10 so would be nice if i can get them a bit cheaper.
I have to read some children's books as well so am off to join the library on Wednesday. Did search for the text books on their system but they don't have them, guess teaching books aren't your normal book to take out really :rotfl:Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -

Have you tried an interlibrary loan? I just did this for a book I needed for uni. It cost me £2 to request but I had it for about 6 weeks before I had to give it back.
Hi. I'm new to this thread but I've been following it for a while. I got made redundant in January, went back to uni and finished a postgrad certificate course in May. I start at another uni on a graduate diploma at the end of September so I'm looking for work for the summer and possibly to continue part time once I start studying.
I have my first JSA interview tomorrow, which I'm a bit nervous about. I was totally honest about my student status when I applied and the adviser said I was entitled to claim as I'm changing institutions. The jobcentre I've been allocated is 25 miles away, which I'm a bit annoyed about, as there's one only 12 miles away but it's in a different county to my postcode - well actually a different country to my postcode (I'm on the Welsh border) even though I pay my council tax to the closer Welsh side. Will I be able to change this for signing on if I get accepted? I don't really want to pay petrol for a 50 mile round trip every time.
Sorry - this ended up being longer than I intended. Just wanted to make the library suggestion reallyDecember 2010 wins - 12 month Four Four Two subscription; Alcatel OT 708 phone; Miffy cuddly toy; Nivea gift pack0 -

Thanks for that I shall ask about it when I go in on Wednesday.
Welcome to the forum! I'm changing institutions as well so have been able to claim, left one uni in December as I hated it there so restarting my degree in Sept. Been looking for work since Jan. Like you I'm looking for summer work to hopefully be continued in Sept alongside my courseSaved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
Phew. I'm glad I'm not the only one here. I feel so guilty! But I've made years of NI contributions so I figured I should apply if I'm entitled to it.
I did census collecting before my exams and a couple of shifts of bar work at a festival but nothing in the last few weeks. I'm in a very rural area so there isn't much locally. I've just seen an advert for 4 hours a week cleaning in my village. I'm terrible at cleaning (you should see my house) but it's so rare to see anything in the village itself. Might call them tomorrow.December 2010 wins - 12 month Four Four Two subscription; Alcatel OT 708 phone; Miffy cuddly toy; Nivea gift pack0 -

Exactly! I didn't realise they carried on paying your NI until I read it on here so although I've been looking since Jan I only put in a claim for JSA in April, bit daft of me really but nevermind.
It's worth a call. I've learnt to apply for anything you are capable of doing, any job is better than no job.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
Steph at our local university bookshop they have a section selling used text books that students had from the previous year. I found this particularly useful as they are so much cheaper then buying them new.
Welcome to all the new people, good luck with your job searching!
