Tomorrow will be spent explaining my bad credit history to my new HR department in an email and filling out forms for the last 5 years in employment/education/etc.

Then I start temporary on Monday and hope and pray they let me have my perm job ;)

Just had a call for an interview next week, but i think i might have shot oneself in the foot when asked about working weekends, do you think its a good idea to apologise for not explaining myself very well. I was trying to get across that iv eno issue working weekends as long as it wasnt every weekend eg saturday and sunday but would prefer at least a saturday and sunday off each month. Or should i take what i can get and negotiated a saturday/sunday off when needed

All forms are filled out, email has been written. It has all taken me 5 hours!

Now I'm going to try to relax and hope that they let me work there... I start temporarily tomorrow until they look into everything. I just hope the agency really did ask them about my holiday next week since I've caused them quite enough trouble!

Hmm to be honest I'd usually have left it and negotiated it when I got offered the job. If you feel it's done some harm then there's nothing wrong with you contacting them to clear things up :)

she caught me off guard by asking what hours I was after, would it be a good idea if i apologised for not explaining myself all that well and leave it at that OR should i not say anything and take whats offered and if i need a sunday/saturday off try and be flexible when i need to be.

    Thanks drea

Did you say that you couldn't do any weekends or just that you would need advance notice? If it's the latter then I don't think that that's unreasonable!

no i didnt say i couldnt work weekends, i basically said i didnt mind working weekends and i think i said if it isnt every weekend then its not an issue,

i also asked how it works out for weekend working eg is it both saturday and sunday or 1 or the other but the reply was too clear,

i think ill just say yes to whatever hours and try and negotiate a saturday/sunday off nearer the time and just hope i get offered it, i might also try and explain what i was trying to say but in a better way

DCFC79 I don't really think that they will hold it against you. I have often said that I needed notice to work weekends when I have been interviewing for new jobs because I have childcare to sort out for my daughter.

Good Luck for today Drea, hope it all goes well for you, let us know how it goes.

Good luck to all those job hunting or having interviews this week!
  • Morning all. I've got my 13 week review at 10am so panicing a bit today. I really thought I would be in employment by now - I desparately want to go to work!

Good luck Drea this morning and good luck for this week to everyone else.
