I've never been unemployed since I first started working 23 years ago, so this is a bit of a shock to the system - I'm sitting thinking ok, I know I need to get my CV together, but also know that in the last 20 odd years things have changed and my thoughts on a CV are probably well out of date! Anyone got pointers as to where I might find a good example online?

    Welcome to the thread Toots.

Microsoft Office has some really good template that you can adapt:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT010144894.aspx

I also look at the job description / person specification for the job I'm applying for and incorporate their structure / phrasing as well.

I'm joining the ranks of unmotivated this week - got off 1 application yesterday, I had a look at the trade papers today and found 2 more jobs that I'm going to apply for although I'm not a great match.

I don't know what it is - Am I hitting a three month brick wall? Are the rejections getting to me? Am I getting too desperate and applying for jobs because it's a job I can do rather than want to do or work for that company? Probably all of the above :o

Ok, I'm going to eat this chocolate bar on my desk and fill in this application form!

Waiting to hear back from Saturdays interview and have another today. Just found out there's a maths test involved! Wish me luck and best wishes to all jobhunters especially if you have interviews coming up. I much rather get them out of the way first thing in the morning, this waiting is shredding my nerves. It took me a while to get interviews but l kept persevering so keeping motivated is important. I just hope something comes of it. Chocolate definately helps!

I'll join the unmotivated ranks for today. I didn't sleep much last night thinking about the continuing non working. It just isn't me, I actually liked working!

Does anybody else look at some job specs and think that you're wasting your time applying as your skills set just doesn't match and other people applying will?

Linda, If you don't get the job just put it down to experience and learn from what you see as your errors. Treat it as a training exercise and remember we always think interviews went badly and play the whole thing back in our minds, they're never as bad as we think they were.

Try and have good days everybody.

Well today has been completely rubbish for me. Very few jobs posted and none that are relevent to me. Got a very rude rejection email this morning too. I am really struggling at the minute, can't take much more of this. I thought I was doing the right thing going to college and university, but flicking through facebook today has made me think otherwise. It seems all those who left school at 16 are in decent jobs, with their own houses and lives, and here I am just stuck in a rut.

Fully expecting a rejection letter tomorrow from the company I was interviewed for.

I hope others have had happier days than me.

did you see young jobless and living at home on TV last night. There are alot of unemployed teens.

The blasted phone just rang, I ran to the phone :o it was Apex the training people, :( ringing to ask if the can ring ?!? about an opportunity they have for me.

I only thought the line "of course you blOOdy well can", I said "Yes"

I expect someone else will now ring about said opportunity

Its great that they have a job, and I'm sure its me and don't know how these things work, but they sound rather over staffed :D

Mean while, I'm sat here filling in Council Tax Benifit forms.

Maybe all the people I know are just lucky then. It is really annoying to see them getting jobs when I have all these qualifications I worked my backside off for and can't get a bloody thing!

The phone keeps ringing today, all really pointless phone calls, one trying to sell me a car, and then my boyfriend keeps ringing about football tickets  I must sound so disappointed :rotfl:

Same here, its just rang again, its horrible waiting for that phone call, that you know isn't going to come, and then the phone rings.

This time the catalogue people, Kays, with a recorded message saying they had received a return I'd sent back

I've just come back from a walk, couldn't stand the wait any more, if it had been 10 mins earlier, I'd probably have broken my neck trying to get in the door. :rotfl: if I'd have got back and heard the phone ringing.

No doubt I'll find this all funny one day :o

Rubbish again! Nothing relevent at all so I'm glad I managed to apply for three jobs yesterday. It's job day tomorrow so hopefully there will be a load of jobs to apply for.

I spent the morning printing off all my apps and rejection letters, then spent this afternoon cleaning and looking at ridiculously expensive houses on right move for no reason whatsoever, and just had my job search mentioned in a rap on a local radio station :rotfl::rotfl:

Does anyone else find the days really drag without a job?? There's nothing to wake up for, and the Real Deal theme tune is starting to drive me mad.

Hi folks can I join too. Sorry this is a bit of a ramble so if you get to the end thanks!
I am looking for a bit of support /inspiration as things dont feel like they are going very well at the moment:(.
Am currently working in a school for 11 1/4 hrs pw (dinner lady!)and so signing on whilst I find additional hours. I am a single mum of 3 and finding things pretty tough tbh (only been sm since july after 15yrs married). Its so hard to find something else that I can fit round the kids etc. Was threatened yesterday with loss of benefits if i didn't attend an interview at the jobcentre after they changed my appointment to a time that i couldn't go ...so now i have to go with kids in tow and was told i could not keep making excuses! I have had to rearrange a couple of interviews before because i work (and they still keep making them for lunch time!)...not because i am trying to avoid looking for work, I already work and am desperate to get more hours , so i dont have to go through this . I have never claimed jsa before and never want to again. It is so demoralizing! I got my job within 2 weeks of signing on (last july) started work september and am doing a computer course too .
I have even thought of advertising myself as a domestic cleaner but dont know if I would need insurance etc does anyone please know?
Sorry to moan on... but felt so bad today I burst in to tears in front of my boss at work and feel a right idiot:o! Lucky for me she has been there got the t shirt and was very supportive .
I have phoned for 2 cleaning jobs today and 3 yesterday but heard nothing...and so it goes on....
