If anyone is dealing with competency based interview questions I found this link useful:
http://www.interview-skills.co.uk/competency-based-interviews-questions.aspx
and have this one as well:
http://www.wikijob.co.uk/wiki/competency-based-questions
I can't check earlier in thread to see if already posted as computer grinding to a halt
There is also a book I got called "What Colour is your Parachute" as I want to change careers and it has some info in there, but it's also got info on applying and interviewing for jobs. Not cheap however it's a well-known book so local library may have it.
Good luck everyone, I'm looking for a job at the moment, doing okay apart from I had a good cop/bad cop interview yesterday where one guy took me apart and other took notes. Depressed me for the day, but getting over it now.0 -
I'd like to be able to take some kind of support and encouragement from this thread, but my attitude towards work is just so negative that I don't think I can ever change it.
I used to be driven and wanted a proper career, wanted to build success off the back of my education but I've completely lost all of that.
Since the start of 2009 (prior to that I enjoyed the jobs I did) I've been working in jobs I hate, being paid crap, feeling undervalued, unmotivated etc and I only see work as a way to pay the bills now. Go to work, do the work, go home. It's horrible and has gotten to the point where if I'm working full time, then I become so complacent and I don't have any motivation to look for new jobs. I don't have the energy or positive attitude to do anything to change my situation. All I want to do after yet another boring stressful day at work, is sit about doing nothing and eating. I can't count the number of days I get back from a full day at work and think "I could really do with a beer right now"...
I do have a job but I've been looking out for that dream job (something that I find intellectually challenging and interesting and will ENJOY doing!) for the past few months, have made lots of applications. Out of those only one interview (didn't get the job) and the rest rejections.
I realise there are a lot of people out there who find it much more difficult to get work etc and a lot of people will say "shut up and stop complaining, at least you've got a job" but that doesn't affect how I feel about everything.
The thing that annoys me the most is that I found an old payslip from 2005 and I was getting paid 46p MORE per hour back then that I am currently! How can I be worth less than 5 years ago having since gained qualifications and experience?!0 -
Woop, I got an email back from a company who want to see me about a job! Hope I haven't missed it, I was out all day today, only got it when I checked my dinner when I was sitting in a restaurant!
I'll be getting up early tomorrow to see if they email back.0 -
Morning all
I hope your interview goes really well wine night and you come back later on telling us you have the job! Fingers crossed for you.
Webitha, brilliant news! You are sooo much braver than me. I hope it goes really well.
And Sharon, I hope you have got the email you want this morning and get your interview!
I've had a look through the job sites this morning and there are quite a few jobs today thankfully so going to start the applications now.
Hope we get some good news today. Happy job hunting!0 -
Morning guys!
A couple of new josb to apply for have popped up this morning, so I'm going to spend some time filling in the application forms.
I've also started putting feelers out to old workmates who have made the leap to move abroad for work over the past couple of years to see what the prospects are and whether it's for me.
Good luck with interviews today for those that have one. I have another on Friday, but haven't even started preparing for it....Tomorrow is another day :rotfl:0 -
Hello everyone! Got an interview lined up next week (the one I wanted, with old acquaintance) and another recruiter wants to see me this week.
Lost my employment tribunal but at least now I am truly free of the past!
Feel very busy now. Be nice to go a while without the doldrums.
Sending out positivity and blessings to all.0 -
Excellent news. Well done for taking that step. I'm a long way from Preston but if i'm ever passing by i'll try to remember to pop in and purchase some chocolates.
Feel free to pop in and give some support and let us know how you're getting on.

Hi everyone
I've been for the job interview this morning and I really, really want the job- it's a great company, with a great work ethos, and the hours and location suit me perfectly!
The second stage was discussed at the interview so I hope that's a good sign. I should find out on Friday if I've made it through to the next round. The recruitment consultant is going to hopefully gain some feedback today, and I've had a call from another agency about another position which is also nearby.
I hope that there's some good news for you all today! I'm going to give myself the rest of the day off I think0 -
Really down this morning, didn't get the job I had interview for on Sat and had a number of rejections waiting in my inbox. Nothing new to apply for yet either. Arggh! Still waiting to hear the result of yesterdays interview, which I think went well, so there is a flicker of hope out there. Good luck once again to everyone else and fingers crossed for us all.Halifax £744 and coming down0
