I'm not included in any government statistics either chrisann. I got six months contribution based JSA but then was not entitled to income based. I did continue signing on for a couple of months for the NI but then got so utterly fed up of being messed about at the Job Centre, plus the fact that my signing on day was Wednesday but on Monday I would feel physically sick at the thought of it, so I signed off. There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0

Good Luck to everyone else out there who has interviews this week, and many congratulations Jill36!! Hope you've got a good alarm clock!!0

Thankfully these days all my job apps are online. Takes 20 seconds or so whcih is how I've managed to clock up 250! But I agree about the courtesy aspect - if we've taken the trouble to apply (and are not time-wasters i.e. we have the skill & experience to do the job) then a simple one line email to say "thanks but not this time" wouldn't go amiss. Recruitment agencies are the bain of my life!0

I've given up on agencies now. I signed up with one in Feb who got me two days work and nothing since! Another one I signed up with and never come back to me with any work despite regular emails saying I'm still available. Several others I've applied for jobs with online and no one has ever come back to me. I try and just go direct with employers now although I appreciate for some job roles recruitment agencies are best.
Still annoys me that my brother had an office job through Manpower last year, went travelling and then in Jan this year when he got back fell straight back into the same job with them. he had no previous office experience. I've applied for the same role several times with them and never hear back, even though I have had 2 office jobs in the past and have an Admin NVQ.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
Luckily for me my husband leaves home at 7.00am every day (he is never late). No more cups of coffee in bed for me before he leaves. Lol0

I've just totted up the amount of jobs I applied for.
I applied for 151 before being offered two jobs at oncethat doesn't include the amount of jobs that came through an agency that I interviewed for or did temp work for which would probably be another 10 or so.
Oh, that's since the end of January.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Just finished filling in an application form and wondering whether or not to alter a date on my CV.
I left school in 2002 but because I was only 15 (late summer birthday) I didn't start working until near the end of 2002 after trying college first but deciding it wasn't for me. I had a small job as a Junior in a hair salon but was made redundant after just a few months so that's never been on my CV. I then had another part time job which I no longer put down either so my first real job was in 2003. I worked at a travel agents for a year before making the move to a nursery to start my career in child care. On the last few applications I've not bothered mentioning the travel agents as it's not related to me applying for jobs working with children. But only starting at the nursery makes it look like I went from 2002 until 2004 with no work. Should I say I started at the nursery in 2003? For retail jobs I leave the travel agents on as it's relevant.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -

I've not included agency jobs either as most of the time they aren't actually real jobs available.
Looks like I have a few more to apply for then before getting anything :eek:Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
I have just come back from an interview and was offered the job immediately. (Start tomorrow)
It is a cleaning job 20 hours a week starting at 7.15am . £6.00 an hour.
There is a possibility of more hours maybe doing something else in the company
(Iv'e been doing office work for the last 5 years so this is very different). I have had no luck finding another office job as employers seem to want more skills than I can offer i.e accounts experience/audio typing.
Well done, Im in the same position as you, always done office work but got made redundant and now working as a cleaner, first interview I went to and got the job, it's going well, different to what Im use to but its a job and everyone is very friendly. You will be fine, good luck.0 -
Just added my interviews too. I had 24! :eek:Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0
