I'm lucky that the 5 year question is pretty easy for me as I'm currently looking for pt jobs to fit in with looking after my son.
I say something along the lines of I would hope to be working full time. I've had my children and am still young enough to want a career not just a job......without any interruptions.
Ok so i know it's a bit of a back handed way of saying, hey I'll not be toddling off on maternity leave so you don't have to worry about that, but you have to sell yourself how ever you can right?0 -
I'm back - I think it went quite well. I should know by the end of the week (they say!). There are two jobs going, both 18.5 hours per week. The pay isn't great but the job comes with an amazing perk which will save about £100 per month so that taken into account the pay works out OK!There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0

I usually say that I hope to be in a job that I enjoy, that challenges me and where I feel that I am making a valuable contribution. No specifics about where I'd like to be working/ what field etc. That's pretty much the truth though so it's not too hard for me.
Actually in an ideal world, that'd be around the time I'd like to have kids, obviously wouldn't mention that though, plus you can't really plan for these things (unless you're already married, but I'm not).
I'm back from my first day of work. It wasn't too bad, only did 5 hours as it's a p/t position, so now I've got to get on with some job applications that are due in tomorrow!
Finally got some JSA as well, much needed as it was starting to look a bit desperate!0 -
Just come back with a meeting with the company that is making me redundant. They want to nail me down on what my requirement are regarding location. Given that I have been looking on their job board and there have been zilch jobs for my type of skills based in the UK so far, and they do not know what jobs are coming up think it is rather futile.
I dislike going back to my current job place just now. (Prefer to think sunny thoughts about the future rather than be reminded that the job I did for 20 odd years has disappeared), and hate the uncertainty of it all
Unfortunately my head has always ruled my heart which dictates keep all options open just in case a job does come up:mad:
I have an interview tomorrow which I hope will go well, the job spec and the company look very interesting and I look forward to doing a new job. Location, well opposite the company that is making me redundant!:o0 -

In my last interview I asked them where they thought the successful candidate would be in five years time!
I'd asked most of my intelligent questions at the first stage interview and was struggling to think of further things to ask at the second stage.
They (2 of them including the person who'd interviewed me at first stage) were surprised but said it was a good question!
Ultimately I didn't get the job because one of the other two candidates had more experience. Oh well. Onwards and upwards!0 -

I have a second interview on Friday. What sort of things come up in a second interview? Was yours much different to the first?0 -

In the second interview I met the head of department as well as the line manager who conducted the first interview. Other than being in a different room, it wasn't much different to the first interview, similiar questions and it was mostly me asking them questions!
In past second interviews, I met other people who I would be working with - I had asked in advance whether there was anything they'd like me to prepare and they said for me to plan what I would do in the first two months in the role. I didn't get asked about it in the interview though! (And I did get the job...)
I'd make sure you research the company as much as possible and think of questions to tell you whether you'd really like to work for the company and gain as much information from them about the role as possible (interview them!).
Good luck!

I pretty much agree with TGWTARN. My second interview was described as a "favourable" second interview. I met the top manager and he basically just explained the role and asked me to clarify a few of the things that had come up in the first interview. I had also prepared some questions as I had researched the company in more depth by this stage. I hope it goes well for you! Good Luck!0
