Just on the way back from my interview, they said the most they could give just now is 3/4 (as in three quarter) days so it'd depend on the pay. Will start the other job on Monday and see what they say.

  • Hello all,

I'm feeling quite positive about things today - the number of you getting jobs this week might mean things are picking up! I'm also quite excited about my interview next week, and my husband had a very good meeting with someone yesterday about a job that he 'has him in mind for' - and this was not a recruiter, it's the person who would be his boss if he got the job so that's quite promising.

It's a horrible, cold, wet, grey day here today but hopefully the sun will be out tomorrow for the village Gala which we are going to have a walk to!

My hard work has also paid of i've managed to secure 3 part time jobs totalling 40 hours. Had an interview at matalan today and start monday 10 hours per week, gone from no job to 3 hope I don't get the other one I applied for.

    Well done :j

Definitely something in the air this week, seen more people get jobs this week than at any other time this year.

Are you all listening now 12-2, 10th JUne?
  • I have now confirmed when I shall be working next week. Got training Tuesday til Sunday. Only problem is I'm supposed to be doing Race for Life on the Sunday. I'm hoping that seeing as it's the last day of training, I might be able to go in late if I say I'll spend my own time catching up on what I missed. I suppose it depends on what we'll be doing on that day. I've already had people sponsor me so I'd hate to drop out!

Got my final interview of the week later today. It was supposed to be at 9, but they called yesterday to change it to 4.15. I don't mind really, as it's given me chance to do some more prep and I didn't have to get up so early!

  • Just a quick question. Has anyone used Microsoft Publisher? If so is it something I could teach myself in a hurry? I've seen a really good job but it says I must have experience of it - I've never used it but can use Word/excel/access/outlook etc (if any of those help).

I've only used it once but it's nothing overly complicated. You'd be able to get the basics learnt quick enough.

Thanks. I'll apply for the job and then worry about it if I am appointed!

So, now I have two job offers

    1. Full time on £12.5k (minimum wage), no other benefits.
    2. 11am - 5pm each day on £15.5k pro rata, sick pay, healthcare, etc.

Money works out to be roughly the same each month but with option 2 I have to pay out around £60 in travelling which I don't have with option 1. Oh I just don't know what to do! I'm supposed to be starting the first one on Monday!
