Just popping in to say hello.
November5th, I can relate to what you said - I'm delighted to have found a job, but I think I was starting to enjoy the job hunt, as odd as that sounds. I spent so long talking to headhunters and now the phone isn't ringing anymore!
I'm still finding my way in my new job - but I guess I've only been in it for a week and a half! I'm worried I'm not busy enough, but that's because the work I'm meant to be doing hasn't quite kicked off yet. In the meantime, I've come up with some new ideas of doing other things and have got permission from the boss to implement them, so I'm hopefully winning in showing them that they're not paying me money for nothing and I am useful, really.
I keep fighting the fear, but I really like the company and the people there and I've got so used to living in London already. A new job is always scary and takes some adjustment - I keep telling myself to power through and it will get better. These things take time.
The important thing is that I like them and they like me.
Drea, I am so pleased for you! I can understand why you've got mixed feelings, but at the end of the day, you're starting work soon! You've been looking so hard and now it's finally paid off. Once you've told the other company you're accepting another offer, you'll stop worrying and will be able to enjoy the warm glow of success. With a foot in the door, I know you will make those better prospects materialise in time. All the regulars here will vouch that you have the drive to play the long game and make good things happen for yourself.
Great to hear so much good news - but I've also read some less happy posts and my thoughts really are with all of you who are struggling with the bills at the moment. I know how money worries can make it difficult to focus on the job hunt and it's a bit of a vicious circle. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for everyone, but especially for those who need the extra money more than others.
One positive trend seems to be coming across - that there are more jobs being advertised. I remember how quiet it was the other month, so if more vacancies are being created, hopefully we'll hear some more good news on this thread soon.0 -

Thanks for saying that, almost made me emotional
I'm just so worried about ending up with no job! But I know the one with less hours is the one that I could settle in and end up getting further with, it's exactly the kind of company I always wanted to be working for so I can't really let it pass me by. There just isn't any point going into a dead end job for the sake of £100 a month, I'd only be still looking for work!
I'm glad you're settling in okay, it's daunting for anyone going into a new job especially after a move (did that exact thing from Edinburgh to Cardiff).Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
I had to pull out of one of my job offers as the boss is a control freak ( see my thread about this)so I am just going to go with the second job part time offer until I find a full time job.
I could not take the risk as I was having major doubts about the boss behaviour.0 -
Looks like ill have to send out some speculative cover letters and CVs starting monday0

Hello again, back on JSA after a VERY busy working month last month (6 days off throughout the entire month!) It feels so weird not to be working (even though I had 2 days Thursday and Friday). Today I know is suppose to be a weekend, but I'm sooo bored! If I was working I'd be like yay day off!
I've added to my CV now, but think it may need a major re-jig now that my experience has grown and the amount of jobs I've done has significantly increased. I work in TV and have had 8 different jobs in 16 months, plus a few months of unemployment from Jan-Mar.
I feel like I should be doing something productive as I've barely rested this past 6-8 weeks, so not use to relaxing as much as I was! But at least I've got driving lessons booked and got my new glasses (well will do on Tuesday!).0 -
Yep, that's obviously it
and there was me thinking she would say you take after your mother
925dancer, If the agency is Manpower that are dealing with the Amazon jobs they are pretty professional and recruit a lot of the RBS call centres.
ps best of luck on Monday Drea and I hope it goes well in the new job and your phone call to the other job.0 -

It's not Manpower this time, it's Expect Talent, who have opened an office in Edinburgh off the back of their deal with Amazon! Ah the wonders of Google0 -
I'm really getting nervous about starting my new job tomorrow. It feels like the first day at school! I just really want it to go well but I feel as though I am lacking a lot of confidence after being unemployed and I think that shows.0
