I have found part-time work at a large well known retail store as store assistant. It's only 8 hours per week contract at the moment but anything will do me. It will be mostly at weekends but they told me I will most likely be asked to do more hours.

I already have a day job but we only just make ends meet every month. So a couple of months ago I went looking for parttime retail jobs, gave out lots of CVs and filled application forms. Last week one of them called me, interview next day and the day after they called to offer me a contract.

So I just wanted to say that it IS possible to find part-time work if you look hard enough. Good luck.

That's great news well done :T

I got the job and start on Monday pays more than other job that I was offered so I am going to go with this one. I am in a very good position I have had two job offers in one week and just had someone else invite me to interview that I had to turn down.

You jammy beggar, good for you. It's an inspiration to others to keep on trying, and don't give up, even if things currently look like pants.

So I have this interview tomorrow for the place I already did temp work for. But it was part time, I phoned the agency and explained that I've been offered another job but it is low pay and I'd rather work for their company and they have gone and spoken to the company who have pretty much agreed they could make it full time instead! Not bad, fingers crossed for my interview tomorrow. At least I know I have a back up now though :)

That's excellent news, they obviously know quality when they see it.

    Fingers crossed.

I just applied for loads of jobs on Total Jobs website over the past month and my hard work has finally paid off. I set myself a target of doing at least 5 applications a day and my advice is keep applying and you will find a job because there are jobs available.

I got an Admin job through them a few years ago. They are good for that, unfortunately they are no good to me now as the work I want they never have on there.

My hard work has also paid of i've managed to secure 3 part time jobs totalling 40 hours. Had an interview at matalan today and start monday 10 hours per week, gone from no job to 3 hope I don't get the other one I applied for.

Yes, you have just got to keep on going, even when things are looking really bleak. I'm lucky, as I run my own business, and work is going quite well, but I do like to pop in to this thread every now and again, just to say hello, and chin up, as I remember how hard things were when I first began the business - it's the best thread on this site (excluding Food Shopping of course).

Good luck to everyone with interviews.
