I just need to vent this out somewhere or I am going to cry!
Ugh I hate this job searching!
I think it should be just common curtesy that if you go for an interview that the person gets back to you when they say they will!
I applied for an admin job 2 weeks ago, the guy called my up within an hour and asked me to go in that afternoon for an interview. So I got all my interview clothes ready - really made an effort!
Went for the interview - everything was really relaxed, he showed me round the shop/office and he even had me answering the phone for him. I asked lots of questions and showed interest in the company.
It went well, and he said he really liked me, that I was on the shortlist and would call me over the weekend with a view to starting Monday if I was successful. ( this was 2 weeks ago tomorrow.)
So I waited all weekend to hear if it was a yes or a no. As the Monday was a bank holiday I called on the Tuesday morning, - a lady answered and said her name - and I just knew she wasn't there last week when I went for the interview as he said it was only him and the other girl I met - and I knew her name.
Anyway I asked to speak to the boss, and he came on - said he hadn't had chance to make the decision yet, but it was between me and 2 others and he would call me and let me know as soon as he had.
So I waited again - I was umming and ahhing over whether to call again or to leave it. But having spoken to my old employer yesterday ( on very friendly terms - he retired and I moved away ) he said I should call again - it has been a week after all!
Called this morning and again it was the other lady that answered ( the one that wasn't there on interview ) I asked to speak to the boss, and she put the other girl on ( the one that was there on my interview ) she asked what I wanted, and I asked if I could speak to the boss. She said he was busy so I asked if she would please ask him to call me as soon as possible.
I've had no phone call yet.
I think what he's done is hired some one else ( which is fine if he would just have called to tell me that!! ) and thinks by ignoring my phone calls I will eventually just give up. I have only called twice by the way I haven't pestered.
What should I do now, just drop it? I think it is so rude that he cant even call to say, thanks but no thanks. Or even an email would do!
Arrrrghhhh
Sorry for the huge rant.....have another interview thursday - lets hope they are a little more professional!0 -

you would have thought it would be possible, i had an interview for a job at a council once and i thought with them being a council and all that they would get back to me(they said they would get back to me either way) but i heard zilch not a sausage and i wasnt too impressed.
I had an interview earlier this year for a local firm and again i thought as they were local (not part of a nationwide chain but just the 1 site) they would get back to me either way but again zilch not a sausage. On both occaisons i thought the interviews went well and on both occaisons i did email them asking for news but both went unanswered.
Ive given up expecting a reply now0 -
Tomorrow is last day of being on this drop and go service and im not sure what will happen tomorrow0

It riles me enough when some don't respond after my application - but with so many applying I can take it on the chin when I don't hear.
It's when they don't let you know after an interview that I find even worse! It really doesn't take much just to give a quick phone call or an e-mail.
In a way I am glad I haven't been offered the job, if they are that unprofessional do I really want to work there?0 -
I just got a call from the agency that found me the temp work for the solicitors. They have a permenant job and have asked if I would interview for it, I said yes so will have my interview sometime on Friday (they will let me know - lets hope it isn't a repeat of last time :rotfl:). I'd rather have that job but it is only going to be part time so unless the wage is much better (which it could well be) there won't be a lot of point in me taking it. Will see what happens I suppose...Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0

Hi,
From memory I think there was something like....
People who can help you in looking for work.
Signing up with a new recruitment agency.
However every time I filled those forms out and took them to the meeting they said "Oh, haven't seen one of those for a while" So it sounds like they don't expect to see them. If you go in there with a few ideas and no form then at least you'll still show that you are still a genuine jobseeker.
Last time I was signing on, I had to go to a 13-week review, and I'd taken a whole folder with rejection letters etc to prove I'd be looking for work. He didn't even look at anything I'd taken!
Had my second interview of the week today. Went better than I thought it would. It's with a charity and the last few charity ones I've had it's been a proper grilling, so I was a bit apprehensive, then I had to wait in a room on my own for about 10 mins when I got there, and was starting to worry that they'd forgotten about me!
As with my interview yesterday, there were three interviews who had a set amount of questions to ask each - 3 interviewers seems to be the norm, does any else find this? (Not including jobs where they've used a recruitment agency)
Anyway, I'm having the rest of the afternoon off. My interview tomorrow is with a company I had a phone interview with already so I've already done some prep for that, and the interviews not til the afternoon so I'll have time in the morning to do some extra prep.
Will probably spend most of the afternoon chasing up the Jobcentre about my JSA!0 -
Well I have just got back from shopping with my daughter and had a missed call from the interview that I had on Friday asking me to go in for a "favourable second interview" tomorrow. I wasn't too sure what that meant but when I asked how many other candidates they had recalled the HR woman said that as far as she was aware it was just me! Hopefully I just need to turn on the charm and cross my fingers!0

Good luck for tomorrow! There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
I have a job app that closes on Friday, I hope that means is ok to send it in Friday. That's my plan to do it tomorrow, going to relax today. Bit fed up, no new jobs at all to apply for again. The agency never got back to me after asking me to send my CV in by email.0
