Lexi I saw that advert too, that woman is the most patronising person I have ever seen, I don't know who she thinks that she is! Does she not realise that the reason these people are offered interviews/trials/jobs is because they have a camera crew following them around. Programmes like this make me so angry because it gives people the opinion that we could all go out today, get a job and start tomorrow.

I hate TV shows like that, they always manage to find the most patronising awful people to run some silly "work club" like that's all that's needed!

I got my offer of employment letter today, it says it's subject to a one month trial period, so let's hope they still want someone after that month or I'll be back to square one! I also got my flight tickets for my holiday :D can't wait. Not a bad day for post ;)

Chin up everyone, I know it's hard, especially the longer you're out of work. Fingers and toes crossed you all find something soon.
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

    Hello Everyone,

I've remembered about a song I was taught in school this morning - Unemployment Compensation Blues, by Les Pine I think, was trying to find a version to listen to but not having much luck. Nothing on Youtube. Oh well.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Best wishes,

I came up with a new interview challenge yesterday. I come up with about 4-5 words or phrases that I think would make me sound good in an interview then challenge myself to use them all. For example, for the interview I had today for a higher education position, one of my phrases was 'widening participation', which I managed to use, but I didn't get to use the others!
That sounds fun! Might try that myself

Excellent result. Now have a Hob Nob with that cup of tea and do your research.

    Good luck.

Thanks. Loking at some typical interview questions this morning and will go on to research the company in the afternoon

Well the jobs market seems to have died an absolute death up here in the last few weeks. Only a handful of new vacancies each day and only 1 or 2 to apply for if I'm really really lucky and it's a good day. Totally fed up with it now, I can hardly find a job if there are none.

Got my 13 week review next week but no idea where I put the bit of paper with the 3 step plan I'm meant to fill in and take with me. Can anyone tell me what I've got to note so I can do one just not on their form?

    Hi,

From memory I think there was something like....

People who can help you in looking for work.
Signing up with a new recruitment agency.

However every time I filled those forms out and took them to the meeting they said "Oh, haven't seen one of those for a while" So it sounds like they don't expect to see them. If you go in there with a few ideas and no form then at least you'll still show that you are still a genuine jobseeker.

Ah okay, that's good to know. Don't want to give them any cause to even think about a sanction, although I am at least getting the odd interview which I think is evidence enough of my job seeking in this market!

Got my appointment at the job centre tomorrow...

But I have 2 days work Thursday and Friday that was confirmed after I made the JCP appointment! JSA is a nightmare in my type of employment - short term contracts (freelance without the self employment bit basically!). I have to rapid reclaim after rapid reclaim, can be unemployed days, weeks or months.
