I think the list was originally posted by Drea but I copied it onto my computer when she posted it so this is the list below.
Hope that helps.
Jobsite (the best by far in my opinion, don't forget to upload your CV)
Local council websites.
JobsGoPublic (though they only add vacancies in my city on a Monday AM)
Reed
TotalJobs
Monster (not all that great)
Fish4Jobs
Gumtree
Job Centre Plus
Third Sector
Guardian (not all that great for 'normal' jobs up here)
Civilservice.gov.uk
Goodmoves
All The Top Bananas
Indeed (great for days I only have chance for a quick check)
Milkround
Prospects
That's just what I was looking for...thanks!! :T0 -

Thanks very much for the websites...all this will keep me busy and make me feel that I'm doing everything I can to find a job.
How did you get on with next step? I'd be interested to hear if you found them helpful as I was thinking of making an appointment to see someone but am never sure whether these things will be a waste of time in terms of not telling me anything I don't already know.0 -

well it depends, i didnt think my cv needed anything doing to it (based on replies i had got) but ive been twice now and she has suggested i re do my cv, i add all my courses i did at college. You get given some words you could use for the cv/cover letter.
glad i went but i hope that redoing the cv will get same/or more replies as before
maybe if you go in with an open mind then you can take the positives,
some of the stuff next step and my job centre advisor has told me i already knew,
you get 4 free 45 min appointments for next step,
for the websites there may well be local ones but it depends on your area0 -
Has anybody seen those job ads that say some along the lines of "Tired of watching Jeremy Kyle all day...sick of flicking through the channels and all that's on is Jeremy Kyle...."
I've seen it on a few different job sites, and I find it really insulting. Just because I'm unemployed doesn't mean I sit around watching Jeremy Kyle all day!
Also, out of the above suggested websites, which ones would people say are the best?
I've given up using reed.co.uk as I've not heard back from any of the jobs I've applied for there. However, fish4jobs is working quite well for me at the moment, had one interview last week plus a call today from a recruiter about a possible interview tomorrow (she's going to call me back with a slot - hopefully she will actually do this and didn't just say this after changing her mind from speaking to me!)
Didn't think I was likely to hear anything as they don't let you put a cover letter, which I would usually say is quite important for recruiters to help them sift through CVs.
One more thing...has anyone else experienced this:
I'll look for a job I want to apply for, but can't find anything that interests me. To make myself feel better I apply for a few random jobs on a Jobsite (the kind where you don't have to do an application form, so it doesn't take a lot of thought and effort), thinking I probably won't hear back but I feel better knowing I've at least applied for something today. Then I get a call asking me to an interview, and I have to seriously rack my brain to remember which job it was I applied for. Especially when a lot of job ads don't state the actual company you're applying to.0 -
Unfortunately not! I just don't get any replies or interviews whatever I apply for. No one wants meThere is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0

hi
i can't find the original post about next step - however the woman i saw was lovely made me feel that i wasn't the only person looking...
she had a good look at my CV - and suggested a format that i wasn't over the moon about but is was better than what i had already...
i have since had a wonderful makeover which i am liking very much. .. (PS thanks Drea)
also thanks for posting the list i will now be expanding my work searches... i knew it was there but only scanned the page it was on as the thread was soooo long when i first found it i was feeling guilty reading all of it...
i hope you are all well, and ferien i would love to get an interview from some of the random jobs i have applied for - and after the first week or so i tried to keep a copy of the job spec saved in case i EVER get invited to any interview...
so bored now.
i am actually looking forward to a shopping trip to the company shop a local place that sells random foodstuff from lots of well known supermarkets (including accado, M&S and Waitrose) at silly prices....
nom nom.
warm fuzzies to all.:):)
