Well I must say I have had 3 rejection emails today, which is very nice of them seeing as all the others have not seemed to bother.

What the hell are these companies looking for for me not to even get an interview? These jobs I applied for are for £7.00 an hour ranging from 12-20 hours a week.

Does anyone else believe that these vacancies are already filled by recommendations etc.

Maybe I did the wrong thing after all taking redundancy from a highly paid job. I did not expect things to get this bad!

Been going through the next steps url and the university of Kent stuff as recommended by others in this form. There is some really good stuff out there. Realised that my verbal skills are my principal weakness coupled with a lack of work during the last 7 months (not that I would mention either of these points to an interviewer). Feeling a failure I then watched the Apprentice and saw all the verbal mistakes that were made. Don't feel like a failure any more:p.
vacancies for my line of work have dried up this month, am in limbo at the momement. To cheer myself up and motivate myself during the many moments of depression, I have started to behave like a teenager and play cheesy motivational songs such as

    **** perfect by Pink
    lose yourself by Eminem
    Simply the best Tina Turner
    I will survive Gloria gayner
Things can only get better Dream
    I get knocked down Chumbawumba

If anyone can suggest any other songs I can add to my list, I would be very grateful:D

One other thing, to cope with the downers causesd by the frequent setback that unemployment brings, has anyone resorted to medication? Does it work so is it better to sweat it out? I seem to swing from acceptance to optimism to depression at the moment?:o
  • I find that 'Mr Blue Sky' by ELO always cheers me up when I'm feeling fed up. I'm feeling particularly fed up today. I have to go sign on.

The jobs are still figments of the recruiment consultant's imagination. Once they have thought them up, they will post them online and we will duly apply for the imaginary jobs. Thanks recruiters! You keep us busy if nothing else!

just as an example in public sector. we recently advertised a 3-6 month job at approx £7 per hour and have so far received 200 applications with more to come. at least half of these would be suitable, but how on earth can we interview everyone?

i'm assuming that this will be the case with a lot of jobs??
