I follow James Corden on Twitter, yesterday he posted a link for one of his favourite songs. I had a listen, it was Dolly Parton working 9-5. "I Wish" I tweeted him back saying that cheered me up as I browse direct gov looking for a 9-5 job lol. :rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi everyone!

Lots of new names on the thread. Hello! Nice to meet you, but sorry you have to be here.

Just wanted to post an update, I guess. I'm back from my East Asia trip, and I have a job offer! It's in China. The pay isn't too great (considerably less then I earn in the UK) the hours are scary (8:30am-6pm Monday-Saturday), no overtime, and the annual leave isn't nearly at the level I was hoping for in order to make a decent amount of trip home (2 weeks per year) but it's a job. The idea of the perfect job went out the window a long time ago, lol.

On the plus side, there are some interesting projects that would look good on my CV, and I get an accommodation allowance which would pay part of my rent. That's good, since that's the most expensive thing over here. Food, utilities etc are comparatively cheap, but woah housing is astromonical. I guess it's the same all over!

I've not signed the contract yet because I'm trying to negoc. more annunal leave be it paid or unpaid. I would like to get to come home more than once a year, and would some time off to travel around China too and see more of the country. I think I may still take it though, even if they don't give it to me (although I'll be asking again in 6 months-a year for a review) I don't think I could face the job hunt again.

Anyway, good luck to those with interviews or waiting to hear back. Fingers crossed for some good news this week.

Well I'm back from my interview. It went well, but then they asked pretty much the same questions as the last couple of times I've been for an interview with them. Waiting to get a phonecall at the end of the day to tell me I've been shortlisted for the group exercise which will be on Friday.

I know I should be happy I've had an interview but as this is my third time applying for a job with this organisation I kinda feel a bit over it now...give me the job, don't give me the job...I'm a bit past caring right now.

Hope everyone else is having a more positive day.

I understand why people get a little frustrated with the job centre, stupid policies they have,

on a lighter note well done katkim,

Thanks for the list of websites Stew, that'll keep me busy.

Things are a bit flat on the applications front here, there doesn't seem to be much advertised today so a few new hunting-grounds might bear some fruit, I hope anyway!
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.
  • Afternoon peeps.

Just got back from `signing on` for the first time....what a depressing place at least I was in and out in 10 mins!

Things super slow still here, nevermind,I'm sure tomorrows paper will have hundreds of jobs in.:)

Struggling to motivate myself today. What is the point of spending hours job hunting, hours and hours on application forms when you hear nothing back, not even a "no thanks".

    Such a waste of time.

    Well done katkim! :T

Having to prep on a corporate with a huge product range, my head is full already. I have now looked in the knicker drawer of so many companies when prepping it's driven me a bit bonkers. It isn't normal!

I had a thought, it is isn't usual to be personally judged all the time, which essentially is what's happening when you job hunt. Your skills, your looks, your personality. When I start feeling freaky I remember that. Sometimes, at the end of the day, I feel like I have been on some sort of promotional tour of myself saying the same thing on chat show after chat show... scrutinised.

I'm feeling pretty rubbish today, I'm on really strong antihistamines after being attacked by some mutant bugs at the weekend, it's great as they make me so drowsy so everything is so mellowed but very low motivation to trawl the same websites for the same jobs *yawn* . The number of people going for each job is definitely sky rocketing as people are getting desperate and less picky. I really wish I could be paid for the voluntary work I am doing as I actually love it, makes me realise how much I hated my old job too.
