  • Its interview day today at 10am. Its a job that I only applied for to make up the numbers for the job centre so I've got no idea why they picked me for interview. I'm not the calmest person in the world and now not only am I panicing about the interview I'm panicing about if I get the job and I can't do it! (I must learn to calm down!!!).

    Good luck!!

Good luck! I was very nervous the other day about an interview, it can actually make me feel sick :rotfl:

    You'll be fine :)
    Good luck!!

Thank you. You would think it would get easier as time goes on but I'm actually getting more nervous with each interview.

If he's interested I would get him to be honest with his potential new employer regarding both the chaos and the staff there - she what he/she has to say?

The answer was, that's the way they have worked for 13 years, that is the way the owner likes to work, and they won't be changing anything. He has to fit in, or not.

Do you think it's more important to get a job and get off benefits, no matter how unhappy it would make you, or is contentment with ones work more important?

It's a very fine line. A few years ago I'd have said no, wait for something better to come along, which probably would have in a couple of weeks but the climate now is so different - people are having to take jobs they don't particularly want to take because that's all there is. If he can afford to stay on benefits then I would say don't take it if it's going to make him miserable but if he has to get off benefits he really doesn't have a choice :(

    Good luck interviewees!

Interviewing at eleven. I feel really angry, rather than the usual nerves. This is weird. This job, career wise, is like joining the Masons. Perhaps it is a pressure overload? I just don't think I can repeat the spiel again today.

My recruiter spent an hour really prepping me for this, and it has put me off. I need to do what she said, I know, to the letter, it just feels so unnatural. I couldn't get a better chance, yet...

All my childishness and rebelliousness is coming out now.

Good luck, November and Saxon, knock em dead. Well, not literally. Though I suppose that would leave an opening for a job...

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?

    Ho ho ho!

My boyf is waiting for "dead men's shoes" -- he has a professional qualification and there are only a small number of positions available in that job within driving distance. In six months not one of the bleeders has resigned, moved, retired or died! Even the job he's been offered is filled (the owner intends to demote the current incumbent).

    Its tough out there!

Son went for an afterschool job yesterday, he was interviewed by a panel, asked what he could bring to the job. Tough question to answer when you are 17 and not used to interviews. Asked about major stresses, and experience. Next time I will prep him:(

Been looking through the apprentice audition videos watching people trying to sell themselves. There were a couple of naturals but most didn't come over particularly well which is reassuring. I know the apprentice is a poor vehicle to learn interview techniques but would be useful to see how other people audition/interview. Was wondering if when asked for weaknesses, rather than go for a soft skill, point out something in cv which can be justified, in my instance have been with same employer for long time (I can then go on about why this was the case and why this is not necessarily a weakness and how I would adapt)

Good luck to all those who have interviews. I was hoping that interviews would get easier the more you do, From your experiences, it looks like they get worse in terms of nerves:eek:.

I tailored my cv following some free comments from a cv writer website to make it shorter and sleeker. Since then my phone has become silent. Think I will go back to my long winded rambling cv:rotfl:
