Morning all!
Well, I've applied to Asda again, this time 15 hours per week on the checkout. I don't get JSA any more so this will pay more than that (ie nothing). I used to work part time on the checkout in there 20 years ago, in addition to my full time job for extra money. I really didn't mind it. Still, they won't give me a chance, I expect
Signing on day tomorrow, I really am sick to death of having to go to that Job Centre. There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
No jobs so far here.
I'm starting to feel really guilty about going on holiday in July. I shouldn't be going away when I aren't working, it's not right
Just want to work and earn my own money0 -

Don't feel guilty, we all need a holiday sometimes, working or not and contrary to what a lot of (employed) people think, being out of work is not one long holiday!
We've been discussing having a long weekend in Blackpool for our holiday this year, despite us both being out of work. A bit different to the three weeks in Cuba we had last year but it's still a jolly! :TThere is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
Morning everyone,
Well I have been reading this thread for a few weeks and have plucked up the courage to join. I have been unemployed for 3 weeks today, although I have been looking for work and applying for jobs for 2 months.
I have never ever been unemployed, even as a student I worked. I have always been able to find work. But can I find work now!!
I took redundancy from a large financial corporation in September 2010 (had had enough of the pressure), and was lucky enough to find another job within a week. This however was only maternity cover which unfortunately finished 3 weeks ago. I really liked this little part time job as well.
Feeling really fed up at the moment I apply for jobs and don't even get a response, same with employment agencies. They seem a waste of space these days, yet when I finished Uni I got my first job through them. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that a few of you where discussing leaving your degree off. I too have thought about this, I think sometimes companies are maybe thinking I won't stay etc.
All I want is a 2 - 3 day a week part time job it is hard to keep being optimisitc!0 -
That's all I'm after as well - 2/3 days per week, preferably an admin or office manager job but as you've probably read I've also been applying to Asda and such.
It is hard - I didn't expect it to be this hard. I think it's the lack of response I hate the most, no one seems to reply to your applications. Something has to come along eventually, surely! There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
Hi everyone,
My computer is still being repaired, looks like I'm without it until the 21st May
Really pleased so many of you have been getting interviews! Good luck to those who've not had them yet, and fingers crossed for good news from those who have.
Was told last week at my JSA signing on I'd have my first payment today but there's nothing gone into my account so I hope it's there tomorrow. Can anyone else remember getting their first payment and if it was a week after claiming? I did my claim last Tuesday the 26th April and signed on for the first time last Thursday
I hope May will look up for all of us. I've managed to get 3 interviews lined up! One is for a Summer holiday job working with disabled children, one is for 2 hours a week as a Classroom Assistant for a company called Kumon where parents can take their children to have extra lessons if they are struggling in school, and the third is a Sales Assistant for BHS weekend post. All three of these I applied to well over a month ago and assumed I'd not been shortlisted.
Also have my Uni interview this Friday so it's turning into a busy month.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -

I sign on Thursdays and my money is always in on a Tuesday.
I remember it taking a while when I first signed on for any money to go in. When I had to do a reclaim in March I waited and waited, but no money turned up. When I rang they told me my claim had got lost in the system. Might be worth a phone call for an update on your claim?0 -

If it took a while to start with to go in I'll give them a couple of days before I call. Just hope they haven't got to wait for proof from uni that I'm not there anymore before I get paid, only sent off the evidence yesterday.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
Well here I am at the computer ready to do some more job searching *sigh*. Can anyone tell me if there's a list of links to different job sites anywhere on here? I was sure I'd seen one a while ago but can't seem to find it now.
Good Luck to anyone with interviews today and to everyone else Good Luck with the searching. Keep smiling everyone *hugs*0 -

I think the list was originally posted by Drea but I copied it onto my computer when she posted it so this is the list below.
Hope that helps.
Jobsite (the best by far in my opinion, don't forget to upload your CV)
Local council websites.
JobsGoPublic (though they only add vacancies in my city on a Monday AM)
Reed
TotalJobs
Monster (not all that great)
Fish4Jobs
Gumtree
Job Centre Plus
Third Sector
Guardian (not all that great for 'normal' jobs up here)
Civilservice.gov.uk
Goodmoves
All The Top Bananas
Indeed (great for days I only have chance for a quick check)
Milkround
