Same here and I hate thunder :(

Newbie to the thread here. Been unemployed since end of March and hating it. Have had a total of 2 job interviews so far and obviously unsuccessful with both. I'm not finding agencies very useful at the moment - anyone else finding this?

Agencies have been no use to me whatsoever. I ring them up, they say email a copy of your CV, I email it then hear nothing, I ring again, they can't find the CV, I send it again and round and round it goes. I've had no interviews via agencies and I hate them.

Just got feedback from my interview today. I interviewed strongly and although had a shaky start once I relaxed I was able to go more in depth into what I'd previously done. They want to get me in for the second interview but will let the agency know later when that will be.

Just about all employers here for the type of work I want use agencies. I'm registered with loads who get my CV, interview me, tell me they'll have me working in no time, and that's the last I hear. Then later I'll walk past the branch and there'll be 101 jobs in the window that I could do and would be interested in!

I don't understand why the agencies are so keen to register candidates and not get them working? Obviously the recruiters must get some form of bonus or have targets for numbers they sign up on the books, but the agency itself can't be making any money by having hundreds of candidates who aren't earning?

ETA - well done on getting your second interview Drea, that's brilliant!

Edited again - well done on getting work Ella! Sprinkle some lucky dust around please!
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

They like to have lots of people on their books because it looks stronger for getting employers to use them. They can say "we have 200 candidates ready for work". You really have to get in touch with agencies quite often for them to remember you when a job comes in.

Congrats on the interviews and second interviews and the job :D

I am not finding much luck with agencies but mostly due to my travel restraints and they don't always take them into account and only offering a few days is no good to me but then I am not finding much luck at all full stop lol

Another thing with agencies if you have to tell white lies...

For example, the agency who got me todays interview made sure I hadn't been for any other interviews recently so that I wouldn't drop him in it if I got offered another job... just don't tell him I have been for an interview on Friday ;)

Positive to hear the good news today, unusual for a Monday!

    1. It is too quiet today, needed phone to ring, email box to be pinging away.
    2. I have started to hate my powerpoint presentation :(

I mean, it is just to list the topics you are going to discuss in person and use images where you need to be visually descriptive, right?

I have 9 meaningful visual slides and 3 with bullet pointed topics of interest to discuss/expand on my ideas.

    That's how it's done isn't it?

Sounds right to me. You're maybe getting too close to it to be able to see it objectively. I did the same when I was preparing things for going freelance, ended up hating what I'd done. But after I came back to it after a couple days it turns out it was fine ;)

    My second interview is Wednesday.

  • Got an interview for a job based locally but interview is in London. Since train is going to cost me over £100 is it usual that the company will pay my expenses for this? £100 is a lot when you dont have a job...

    Afternoon all,
Well done to those who've had interviews and found jobs today, congrats :)

Nothing new on the websites today. I dropped in the app form at the Range but the closing date isn't till June, so I hope they're not waiting till then to interview etc! Also saw a sign in the window of an estate agency in town for a Saturday job, so will be applying there :)

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?
