We never took the idea any further which is a shame because it would be really helpful. I will look into it more today and see if I can get any ideas.
Would a facebook group work?

Where did you get that sample CV from?
Personally, I would never include a section on hobbies/interests unlesss specifically asked to do so.
I'm assuming the one CV up is yours? I would justify the text so it looks neater, increase the font size for your name so it stands out, consistently use the third person throughout the CV (no "I did this" or "I did that"), use bullet points more and add some more white space to break it up (e.g. blank line between title and text, etc).
I'd also probably take your address and mobile number off your CV, or at least replace them with fake ones for the purposes of this exercise! You can never be too safe.0 -

Ooops, will take the details off. Can't use bullet points as I need to stick to two pages, and I do need to use first person, there is no getting away from that, although I get what you are saying.
I never used to include hobbies at all, again I was advised to do so, it is very brief, The template I have uploaded was the one that really kicked me up the bum and sorted me out, my previous CV was an awful four pages of bullet points and non-ownership of achievements.0 -
Good Morning,
Lexi I'm glad that you enjoyed your birthday, my daughter got loads of sylvanian families (we may have to leave home as there is not enough room for us and them!)
It's so quiet on the job front at the minute, I think that everybody has gone into holiday mode but I hope that there will be a flood of jobs next week once everybody gets back to work. I spent all day yesterday doing the most ridiculously long and in depth application for a job that I'm not even that bothered about getting!0 -
Morning all, theres no jobs of interest in local paper to apply for0

Hi everyone, hope you all had a nice bank holiday weekend.
I had my 'interview' with the heritage centre today, so I am starting doing a morning a week from next week, starting in the gift shop. They are also going to train me as a tour guide, which involves 'shadowing' one of the guides for a few weeks, then being tested on my knowledge, and if I am good enough I will be able to volunteer as a guide. Im really excited about it, its so relevant to my degree. The icing on the cake of course would be if it was paid employment, but there is always a chance of this in the future once I have my foot in the door so to speak.
With regard to finding work, i'm getting desperate. Trying to find something part time, which is a set number of part time hours is a nightmare. Most of the part time vacancies I am coming across, require applicants to be flexible with their hours. So maybe 16 hours one week, but 40 the next. Because of having to make childcare arrangements, this is just not feasible for me. It would also have implications with regard to WTC as well I would imagine.
I was thinking about sitting down and making a list of all the local businesses in my area and just firing off a cv to them in the hope that I may find some work that way. Has anyone ever done this, and is it worth doing or just a waste of time? I can't help thinking that if a business was looking for someone it would be advertised.'If honour were profitable, every man would be honourable' Thomas More

Joined the ranks of the unemployed last Friday after 23 years service,my employer got rid of me on ill health grounds, not that I wanted to finish.
Been looking at all the jobsite websites and there is naff all going at the moment, the local paper had half a page of job vacancies compared to the two or three pages it had when my wife was on the look out a couple of years ago.
Very early days I know,at the moment the novelty of not getting up at 5 a.m is the only plus point."Life is short even in its longest days".0 -

Hey everyone,
Is anyone else finding the jobs that are around aren't for very many hours? The last few I've applied for have all been for under 10 hours a week.
Just got back from looking round a school where I've applied for a TA post. I was the only one there for that position, everyone else was there for the Teaching posts! I spoke to the Head after about the TA post and he spent about 10 mins with me going over the job details and things so I hope I managed to make a good impression to get an interviewSaved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
