I'm glad it's not just me then. It's annoying how it's not just me bank balance it's affecting. Hopefully spending time exercising each day will boost my energy levels as well as I seem to get tired very quickly with nothing to do.

I'm definitely feeling the extra weight :(

I've noticed I've started eating more because:
    • I have more time (no being 'too busy to stop for lunch');
    • I'm unhappy about being out of work (who doesn't comfort eat?); and
    • I'm bored (it's something to do).
I also think that downshifting to Value/Smart Price products isn't helping, because they're not as healthy as the 'nice' food I used to buy.

Thanks for the wake up call, Steph, I will start exercising again. After all, if I put on too much weight I won't fit into my nice interview suit, will I? :p I guess it would also help with establishing a routine, which is something that goes when you're unemployed.

I can't believe that I got a bit emotional over 4 bags of shopping - that's how bad things have got.

I know exactly what you mean *hugs* I get the same way when my mum brings me the odd few things over - which are usually things she had in her cellar (as she bulk buys when stuff is on offer and hordes it!) such as coffee, washing up liquid, laundry detergent - but it's such a lovely gesture, yet at the same time makes me feel terribly guilty!

Just had an email back from the company I had an interview for last Friday, and didn't get the job. I'm feeling :( about it but then think it's daft to feel that way about it - I'm not technically unemployed, I'm a full-time student, but am struggling financially and really need a saturday job. Problem is finding saturday/sunday jobs to apply for! Also since the moment I saw the ad go up in the window of this new shop, I really fancied working there, and the interview went really well. It looks like not having foodservice experience has gone against me.

I applied the other day for an audio typing (at home) job and have been going through the fairly rigorous testing for that so hopefully I'll manage to pass all that and get some work, which I can do in the evenings or at the weekend.
I will need to register as self employed if I do get the work, however from looking at the HMRC website it seems as though I will be able to apply for a NIC exemption due to low earnings - I certainly don't anticipate earning over £5k a year from audio typing a few hours a week!

Hope you all have a good weekend

  • Woke up with a rocket up by bum this morning! Had a couple of jobs I've seen over the week so I sat down this morning and have applied for 4 jobs, all before noon! Fingers crossed I hear something back from one of them.

  • Taking the holiday and trying not to freak out about not getting those jobs.
Focussing on exercise and study projects next week as I am sure it will be dead quiet.
    Happy Easter everyone :)

Has anyone else found not having a job has made you put on weight? I'm on a serious get fir regime from today. Couldn't fit into my summer shorts which has utterly depressed me. Now I'm on a mission to get fit quick.

God yes! I've put on about half a stone! I bought a few fitness dvd's with an Amazon voucher I had from surveys and have been using MyFitnessPal (it's brilliant!) been losing about 1lb a week for the past month so it's slowly coming off.

I'm enjoying time off job hunting. Applied for a job first thing Friday and I am half way through an application form that needs posting but the deadline is weeks away so I'll leave that til Tuesday. It is just so nice not to wake up thinking about jobs for a few days.

It's my birthday tomorrow. I was dreading it with no ££ but my boyfriend says we're going somewhere that doesn't cost any money and I'm doing a picnic to take with us. Can't wait! :j

Enjoy the bank holiday everyone. Hope you've all got at least a little bit of chocolate to enjoy ;)

Good luck with the audio typing, I did this for awhile a few years ago and it was hard work even though I'm a fast typist, in the end I gave it up but best of luck.
