I'm really sorry to hear so many of you are still having a hard time looking for work. Every time I moan to myself about my current temp job I think of all you guys still looking for work and feel guilty.

I had a phone call from an another agency yesterday asking me of i'd consider telesales. I decided not to bother and stay where I am, I really couldn't face that kind of work.

I hope the whole situation changes for you all soon.

I hope it changes soon too, I really can't stand it any longer.

I couldn't agree more, it certainly makes me think twice before I start on a mini rant about my employer.

I brought up my local shopping centre website yesterday and went onto the website of every single shop they have and not one of them has anything going near me.

ive done that as well but niot just for local shopping centres but for ones further afield but i used google maps to have a look what companys were on the sites then went to the website to look for a jobs section
  • I am hopeful there is something out there for me and hoping it comes along soon. My last job was an awful temp job where you would work what they needed you for so some weeks you could have no work at all and you had to type in silence for 7 hours, hated the job, I quit in the end but I don't half miss the money. Is a shame as I love and enjoy my voluntary work, if I could it all paid I would be the happiest person alive but I can't :(

I don't drive yet either, biggest obstacle I am facing, 5 failed tests down and one booked for May really hoping to pass this time!

It's early days for me before I get made redundant in July and I've only been able to apply for a few jobs so far - so i couldn't believe my luck when a job was being advertised as a reprographics coordinator in a secondry age school, though a private one, and lo and behold my current job title is indeed reprographics assistant/receptionist. How is anyone supposed to get a job that I am totally experienced for, and not even get to an interview? Is it me? Are there so many reprographics officers in the east midlands, that they have soo many to chose from. Most people I know don't even know was reprographics is, unless they are in an education environment. Yet when I called to ask for feedback - no-one called me back as yet. Am I not posh enough, was it because I am of child bearing age, not that I ever want children, do they want an oddice junior to boss around, what is it....? You can get very paranoid. Never mind the dozen or so applications I've sent and not even got a confirmation of receipt for the application.:o

Not getting a confirmation of receipt is not uncommon so you are not alone. Unfortunately even after going for an interview does not always get you a rejection letter or even a status update.

I went for an interview in May 2009 for a very senior engineering post and was told I would be informed in three weeks time of their decision - I'm still waiting :rotfl: I'm not disappointed as they did not impress me at all and the arragoant individual who interviewed me (and with whom I would have to work with closely) could not be bothered to hear my answers to completion (I don't ramble despite this post :)) and just wandered off at the end without the curtsey of saying goodbye!

The moral is it does not matter who you are or what you do employers are getting lazy.

  • It definately seems to be a common theme. Applying for jobs and not getting any response, or being told that I don't have the relevant experience when I clearly do. Its very annoying, and I feel like my intelligence is being insulted at times.

I have to go in for a meeting with the heritage centre I volunteered to work in next Wednesday. I'm sure I will love volunteering there, its a real pity it will not be paid. But at least by doing it I am doing something in the field I want to work in once I complete my degree, and I will also be keeping myself motivated.

Does anyone else feel like they are in a parallell universe since being out of work? I don't know if its the change in routine but I have been feeling ike i'm not a part of the real world anymore. Its hard to explain.

    Good Morning All!

So fed up today! I just cant face trawling through the same jobs again! I'm still annoyed by that recruitment woman yesterday, she really was rubbish. I hate the way that because I am unemployed people assume that I must be stupid! She was so condescending and that really rubbed me up the wrong way! Rant over!
