I realise that it can be hard to be positive at times but taking a temp job may lead to better things whereas being on the outside reduces your options.
I realise that today! I was having a bad day yesterday. My last job was with the NHS and it was a 12 month fixed term contract and they were unable to keep me on due to budget cuts so this is the second time I have gone through job hunting in a recession!
Anyway I've been and bought the local paper and there are two possible jobs advertised in that so I will do them when I get home.
I'm off to to a bit more research for my interview at 1.15pm. I wish I didn't get so nervous - I already have stomach ache and feel sick!0 -
Didn't get the job I second interviewed for. At a total loss. Nothing on the horizon either. I feel strangely angry about it0

I'm playing hooky at the moment. I'm on holiday at my sisters in Scotland. I've brought ds's lap top with me so I can still job search but tbh there have been so few jobs advertised so far this week that I probably needn't have bothered (thought I would have felt guilty if I hadn't and I suppose it keeps my JSA claim right) I doubt very much that there will be many jobs advertised until after Easter and the Royal wedding.
Just out of curiosity and as a long shot I've been looking for jobs around my sisters area, OMG I thought things were bad where I live, it's even worse up here!0 -
Good morning everyone.
Well yesterday ended up less depressing than I thought. I found a job to apply for :j. I also posted a 'job wanted' ad on gumtree and I've had a few responses. The reason I've held off doing it for so long is because I thought I would just get scammy responses but one does look genuine so I am going to look at that in more detail today.
I'm going to give that a go as well, see what happens. Got nothing to lose by trying I guess.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
I had my trial day today at that job. I lasted 2 and a half hours and then walked  the girls there were all young and chav like (for want of a better word
) and they took the pee out of my voice (because I'm Scottish but living in Wales) and then when a black guy came in for an interview they were taking the pee out of him because... he was black and therefore unattractive. Then they had a go at me for not saying the right thing on the phone so I just said it wasn't right for me and left. I feel guilty.

Already done another application this morning which brings me up to a grand total of three since my last visit to JCP . Job day today so hopefully may get a few more apps in.
Have a nice day all.
P.S Drea how did your meeting go with Princes Trust? I'm still waiting for them to get back to me.
It went really well, they were excited about my idea and I was there for quite a while after the others had gone just chatting about it. I'm being put on the Enterprise course which starts on 10th May so it's looking positive on that frontgive them a ring if they don't get back to you within the 5 days, I had to

I need a bit of advice for a job application I'm filling in: there's one section that asks for details of what voluntary or unpaid work I've done...I'm 33 years old and haven't done any voluntary work...unless you count helping out at a summer playscheme when I was 17!!
Should I leave the box blank or should I put that I haven't done any voluntary work due to spending the last 5 years working shifts which required me to be flexible, therefore I felt unable to commit to doing anything outside of work?? Really not sure what to do and I desperately want this job!!!0 -
