  • Maybe do the cover letter by hand and the application form typed? I just know I have awful writing and feel sorry for anyone that has to read my writing.

That's a good idea :) would certainly cut down on paper that needs to be printed if I were to type these applications (not to mention the time it takes to fill them out! much quicker at typing than writing)

The pros and cons of handwritten applications/covering letters are debated on this thread which might be worth a read if you haven't already done so

tbh i've given up looking on most days. whenever i look on fish4jobs, workthing or jobcentreplus websites there appears to be nothing.

i applied for one job which phoned me back asking me whether i'd be interested in going on a £250 course!?! when i asked about the
job offer i was told i needed to purchase the course

all this and i had a better qualification than the one they were offering.
  • I have't been on for a few days as its all starting to get on top of me. I haven't found anything to apply for in a week. All the applications I had sent away have been rejections, and in one case the job was withdrawn prob due to lack of funding.

Im sick of sending away my cv for jobs that I could do standing on my head, and being e mailed and told I don't have the relevant experience. Its actually insulting.

My mum saw a general managers job (for herself) in the local paper one week ago, she e mailed her cv about 4 days after it had been in the paper, and got a reply to say the vacancy had been filled!! Screams internal to me. Why do these companies even bother advertising. Although it could have been worse, I guess they could have had her in for a charade of an interview and completely wasted her time.

It's so sad to see everyone losing hope on here :( I wish we could all find the perfect jobs already! So anyway, back to the real world.... :rotfl:

I have a Princes Trust meeting today for help setting up freelance and then I have to register with an agency on the way home. They have an interview for me tomorrow after my trial day (although still waiting to confirm said interview).

Good for you :) where are you heading to?

Turkey, luckily we went for a cheaper holiday this year compared to the last few! Where are you going??

Nothing again yesterday. I'm at the job centre this week and have only applied for one job since my last visit  Hopefully things are going to pick up soon but I think it's going to remain rubbish until after the May bank holiday.

Dominican Republic (not at all cheap ) - it's my first long haul holiday and look what happened as soon as I booked it :rotfl:
