If you can find a way of paying the balance, I'd say go for it too. We had a weekend in the New Forest a couple of weekends back (on Tesco clubcard vouchers) and it was just great to be able to switch off from the day to day stuff - me working in my business which I do from home, husband from job hunting.

Plus it's going to feel doubly bad if you aren't working then, sitting at home for that week/fortnight, knowing you've paid out for the deposit, should be enjoying a holiday and got no benefit from it. We all need a break from time to time

  • One of my recruiters has emailed me asking if I know of anyone who are looking for... the sort of jobs they should be putting me up for!
These are lovely recruiters so I think this is genuine and not harvesting, perhaps I have not been clear enough that I am up for these sorts of roles?
    Not sure how to reply..

Anyone else found the operator when calling jobseekers direct (when you need the job details) that they come across as "yes what do you want"

    maybe its just me
  • I still have this form to do but am feeling utterly defeated at the moment :( Just going to get it finished and submitted as the job isn't exactly ideal.

Lexi you may find council jobs pick up again once the Easter holidays are over. It's certainly the case with the council sites I look at, they always drop off over holidays, even if jobs aren't school based.

Applied for two more Teaching Assistant jobs. One is due to start May, the other in September. The one to start September I find annoying they advertised before the schools broke up. The closing date is just after schools start back meaning I can't arrange a visit to the school. I'd have thought with a start date that far away they'd have waited til after Easter.

Called about a job at a Kumon study centre as well. It's only 2 hours a week but it's working with children aged 4 to 14 who either need extra help with English and Maths or need to be challenged as they are gifted. Parents pay to send their child there and the job is as a classroom assistant which would be perfect for me and hopefully help towards getting a school based role. Fingers crossed they call me back today.

Also signed up to an agency Saturday who deal with all aspects of child care and school based positions. They are a new agency and seem really lovely. I seemed to be chatting for ages to the woman interviewing me which I hope is a good sign as my BF who came with me said the other woman being interviewed wasn't there anywhere near as long as me.

Found another TA post to start September. They have several posts available and the only job description missing is the one for the posty I'm applying for :rotfl: Luckily I've filled in enough of these now to know the general stuff they want.

My Mom has also found a summer school position going at the local theatre during the summer holidays so I'll apply for that too. I'm determined to get something lined up for September
