They called me back within half an hour which I was pretty impressed with and said my money will be in tomorrow but I won't hold my breath.
I hated calling them, it feels like I am ringing asking for money and it's just so embarrasing.0 -
Not wearing the suit to my interviews tomorrow as I think it makes me look intimidating and not ready to get my hands dirty. I think the heels make me look as if I am power dressing. Smart casual in black jeans and smart work shirt.0

Okay,
Stand back everybody……… I’m about to do a Vince.
I’VE GOT A JOB!!!! :j :j
After all these interviews in the past where I’ve stressed for days in advance, studied the company, rehearsed my interview techniques and thought of competency answers to questions, this is how it happens.
1.00pm. Phone call from an Agency. Would I like to be interviewed for a job at 4.00pm.
4.00pm. Have interview.
4.40pm. Walk out from interview with a job.
Okay, the job is only temporary (though long term). It isn’t that well paid and is nothing like I would have envisioned me doing but it’s a job!! Somebody actually wants me!!
They wanted me to start tomorrow but I need to sign on with the agency first so I’m going to do that in the morning then start on Monday.
Can I just say to you all the biggest thank you possible. This thread has been fantastic in the support it gives and without you all to bounce off when I’ve had down days I don’t know where I would have been. Drea, starting this thread was a fantastic idea but I hope someday soon the need for it dies away.
I wish you all the best of luck in finding work I really do and I hope you won’t mind me continuing to pop in and see how you are all doing.
I still can’t believe it. Now, how to celebrate? :beer:0 -

Just had an email from the first company I ever applied for :rotfl: I had one interview with them then never heard back, that was 3 months ago. He said "sorry for the delay, I've just been really busy. If you are still looking for work are you available for a second interview?"
I wonder if he had someone and they've left or something, bit of a long time otherwise!
My husband has an interview on Tuesday for something he applied for 2 months ago. Everything seems to be taking an age at the moment, employers are so cautious.
Drea you must have made an impression given that he still remembers you after 3 months.
Over 20 years ago my first ever boss applied for a new job (at a recruitment agency would you believe, doing admin). She was interviewed but didn't get the job. Three months later they offered her the job as the person they appointed wasn't up to it - they shunted her off onto reception. It worked out OK for me though as my old boss phoned me up several months later and head hunted me into the recruitment agency to work for her. How different my life would have been if the original appointee had been up to the job! My old boss is still a friend now.Make £2025 in 2025

This just goes to show that the Mr. McCawber philosophy is no bad one as things can just drop out of the sky. All your preparation is not in vain though as you will have learned some valuable lessons you can use to find a long term job you want. Having a temp job need not stop you looking elsewhere secure that some cash is coming in.I wish you all the best of luck in finding work I really do and I hope you won’t mind me continuing to pop in and see how you are all doing.
I'm not unemployed but I have been there a couple of times so I can empathise and came across this thread and thought I could offer some advice. This is something you can now do so please do drop in as you can offer hope for those looking for work as an example that it can be done even in these dire times. Well done and celebrate with your favourite meal and a bottle of pop. :cool2:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
