My CRB has finally arrived today so I have emailed the agency asking for them to put me forward for the vacancy applied for. Also had a call from another agency who have asked me to go along on Monday for an open day AKA getting as many people to register as possible to make them look good! They told me I would need £50 for another CRB, I told them I wouldn't bother, then they said they could use my current CRB.
I'm glad something is happening because for the third day in a row there is nothing to apply for!0 -
How odd. I phoned up a company looking for "Telephone Canvassers", minimum wage but well, I'm getting desperate :rotfl:
They asked nothing at all about me, haven't asked to see my CV yet they are interviewing me on Wednesday, I guess they are just interviewing everyone who phones. It's only 5 minutes down the road so it softens the pay blow!Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
I have managed to apply for quite a few jobs today so hopefully things may be starting to look up! I am having the afternoon off today going to buy a new lawn mower before the jungle that is my garden takes over the world!
Lexilex I had the same thing with an agency wanting me to pay for a new CRB check before offering me a job so I just told them no. It's not like I can afford to keep paying out for CRB checks with no guarantee of a job at the end of it!0 -
How can you apply for 3 jobs a week when they CBA to update the jobs ? These current vacancies have been on all week and I have applied for all of them LOL, Ahhhh Well, Gonna straighten my hair and hit the back yard with the nice weather :-)0

Well that was pointless applying for Job Seekers Allowance! Got another 4 or 5 days work next week! Woop! I'm going back and forth between the same 2 companies it seems. At least I'm getting money in
That's going towards paying for everything I've got planned including driving lessons.
I've decided to put 10% of my income (apart from what I get in Housing Benefit) into savings to fund my savings towards learning to drive. So if and when I become unemployed I can still continue to learn to drive!0 -
Well back from interview and who knows how it went. There were apparently loads of applicants and interviews are over 2 days, so will know early next week.
Not a lot to apply for but will scout the ads later today to pick up any that I've missed.0 -
Well that was the most pointless waste of time and petrol ever. I got there ten minutes early, and 35 mins later was still waiting to be seen, only to be told the only thing they had that I could volunteer for was fundraising. I don't mind giving up my time for free, but I need something relevent that will help me get a proper job, and fundraising isn't going to do that. I explained all this in the first email I sent so I'm pretty annoyed really
I feel worse than ever when I can't even get somebody to let me work for nothing! I feel like ripping my degree up!

Was too intense in first interview and didn't showcase my understanding enough in another. Can I ever get it right?0

Once I've done that its out into the garden in the sun!
Working at the Revenue dealing with tax enquiries would probably be my dream job. Unfortunately, I've not seen anything close to that advertised up here in Scotland! Or for that matter, anywhere else... I've had my eye on the Revenue website for three years and never seen anything other than call centre vacancies and really super-specialised posts.
I'd love to be a Tax Inspector one day, just don't see it happening.I know there have been massive cuts, but presumably they need to replace people as they retire?

This was mentioned when I met to discuss my jobseekers agreement - I tried to explain that teaching/training/careers advice jobs aren't something you can just ring up about as vacancies are advertised by LEA/FE college etc. Will be circulating my CV to some training providers (1 a week) and then make a phone call to follow up. Pointless waste of time, but will tick a box.0
