Have done my research so will just have to hope that they ask questions that I have answers to.
Will let you know how I get on.
Good luck!CONGRATULATIONS Stew you really deserve it! I'm so pleased for you.
Well, I didn't get the job. The interviewer said that he could not offer me any negative feedback as they spent ages trying to decide between me and one other person. In the end they went with them because they had ten years experience as opposed to my six. He did say that he was very impressed and if anything came up then he would call me.
Oh well onwards and upwards!
Sorry you didn't get the job, but at least the interviewer had only positive things to say. What will be will be eh! Something better will come along soon I am sure.
I have a meeting with a local charity today. I emailed them about volunteering, but they also have an events organiser job going but experience is essential. I am going to mention this hopefully, and tell them about getting the events job last month. It's got to be worth a try!0 -
Two interviews today, first one for the job I want, then a mad cross London dash to the second one.
Odd, I have never felt so unmotivated about interviews as I do today. Meh.0 -
Just done my Job Seekers Rapid Reclaim application. Back to being unemployed for a minimum of 3 weeks. Hope I get another temporary job in between now and then. Or a job I can't refuse. I've got guaranteed work in 3 weeks or so, but if I get a better job, I'll still feel guilty leaving them as I'm the main person there, I know how the program works we use and the format of the paperwork! Been there since the beginning really. But needs must, need a better paid job as well.0

Morning All. The job centre have decided that I should cold call at least one company a week. This is a major problem for me as I am quite shy and I have no idea how to do this. Does anyone have any advice?0

Sounds like they have ran out of ideas.
Does it say phone or contact. If its contact then you could just write or email to a company out of the phone book.
Im the same. Its embarassing ringing around companies on the off chance there might be a job.
If you have to then at least its only one a week. Just get it over and done with first thing Monday morning then its out of the way.
Im afraid its just all about ticking boxes as far as the Jobcentre is concerned.0 -

Thanks Rich. It says phone one and write to one. Its the phoning that I will be rubbish at. I might try and explain to them next time I go in that I will stand more chance of actually getting a job if I write as I have no problem with that, its just the phoning - I'll just stutter my way through the phone call!!!0 -

If you are phoning them to make sure your written request goes to the right person, that would count. The JC are so clueless about job seeking, they seem to live in the seventies. If you do call, there is no doubt that they will just tell your to email them0 -

Best thing to do is write down exactly what you are going to say before you phone then read from it. Most times they'll say they have nothing or just to send your CV so you usually won't have to say much more than the "Hi I'm phoning because...."Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Got rejection letter from that interview I was late for, what a surprise! Still, it's Friday and it's hot out, doing my job search, signing on then the day is mineJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0

Thank you. I've done it. I rang the local college, got through to Human Resources where a snotty woman growled at me "all our vacancies are on our website" I politely said thank you and that was the end of the call - easy. Who knows by doing this I might get over my "making telephone calls phobia". I've just looked at their job vacancies website and its completely blank so that was a waste of time.
Now I've just got to apply for the job at the Inland Revenue that the job centre gave me that I really do not want - its dealing with tax enquiries and I'm really not very good with numbers plus the salary is nearly double what I was previously doing so I think they are aiming a bit high for me! Once I've done that its out into the garden in the sun!0
