  • Sorry to hear that Soupdragon. I had a meeting with a lovely lady from NextStep last Friday who informed me she was also being made redundant, oh the irony.

Good luck with the interview and keep us informed :)
  • I went for lunch with my ex-colleagues today (HR in an NHS Primary Care Trust) - they were saying that a lot of their temporary contracts were ending today. I'm guessing this is nationwide - when will it end?

It really is terrible isn't it. Just what exactly are we all meant to do? We're all trying so hard and just can't get anything. Even when we do get jobs how long will they last? It seems no where is safe from cuts these days

A huge problem is recruitment agencies, I know no job is ever safe but I always feel alot more secure if I am employed by a actual company and not relying on agencies to find me work, I want to get out of my relatives house but I just can't risk it at the moment, You could be working one week and the agency could call you and say they don;t need you anymore then ya !!!!!!ed, I think it's really going to get alot worse aswell :-(
  • I have e mailed my CV to a few recruitment agencies but none of them bothered to get back to me. And here was me thinking recruitment agencies would bite your hand off to get you on their books. Although I have stipulated that I am looking for permanent vacancies only so that could be the problem.

I managed to find one job to apply for today, part time admin in a solicitors office. But nothing else going today.

I hate going on job websites and its agency after agency. I have started just searching for vacancies posted by employers rather than agencies.

You are not alone, I never hear back from Agencies or perspective employers. Have amended my CV numerous times(doing so atm, just taking a break). Just have to keep plugging away but due to sheer volumes of applications and companies being more selective I cant see it changing any time soon.

I badly don't want to use them but with the work I do agencies have taken over. I am looking for FLT work and you can honestly not find any vacancy that is not through a agency. I think this is why alot of people won't risk signing off the dole, You can't survive on 1 or 2 days a week which is what the last agency I signed up for offered me

So I finished my other job and now onto the next one, told the Job Centre, so I'm officially off the dole lol. Well still need to take my booklet in, but he's signed me off from the date I said.

I'm here for just over a week, then probably rapid reclaim, then more of this work for 2 weeks, then rapid reclaim... could go on for weeks! All depends on filming dates and when the tapes get back to us. I will be looking for other work, but sort of feel responsible and loyal to this job, as I've been there from day 1 and the other people in the same job started today! (I done some days week or 2 ago).

I need to redo my CV now... add all these new jobs lol
  • Well just fired off another application - just hope I can convince them that my admin skills are up to the job!

Chances of finding a careers adviser post in the short term is slim to none so will have to fall back on other transferable skills. Thank goodness I am IT literate and can type (albeit not very quickly).
