Today was looking to be a really rubbish day but then out of the blue I got a phone call from a medical receptionist job that I applied for about two weeks ago and I have an interview on Thursday. It's ideal for me and although I'm trying not to get my hopes up I really, really want this job!

Just back from my interview. I was there an hour and after telling me about the company and the job and me telling them about me and my skills it was spent giggling and chatting. I have no idea if that is a good thing or not! I gave some good answers that they were pleased with though, so fingers crossed, they'll let me know Monday.

Just got a call from a recruiter which is always nice, but I really don't think I am giving good phone today, keep stumbling over words, gah!

    Hi all,

I've been having a crummy couple of days, mostly down to the Benefits Agency, they employ very nice people but one department just doesn't seem to know what the others are doing.

I've found a few jobs to apply for the last couple of days so here's hoping. I really need a kick up the backside at the moment to get some momentum back in my life, anybody else getting fed up with the constant well meaning "any luck yet?" from friends because I am.

Katkim, nice to see you back giving us an update, I was only wondering the other day how you were getting on with your preparations. Hope you have a successful trip, how long are you away for?

Last day of the financial year tomorrow, a lot of new budgets kick in next week. Lets hope we see some improvement then.

    Evening everyone,

I've had another fab day at the school, it really is great to spend all day doing other things and not worrying about job hunting.

Emailed a dentist about a receptionist job they have going to see what days and times its working as it was in the paper with no details. That's all I've seen today I can apply for.

Seems to have been the quietest week since January for me, nothing to apply for at all.

  • I am now officially unemployed, having been made redundant. Have spoken to the jobcentre and have a job focused interview on Monday.

Even the lady on the phone felt it somewhat ironic that a careers adviser was being made redundant! C'est la vie, with funding for services to support young people being cut week on week, a lot of us are now in this position.

On a positive note I've just had a letter inviting me to an interview next week, so will have to hone up my interview skills etc. (it's the first time I've been out of work for 10 years).

    Sorry to hear that :(

There seems to have been an awful lot of new people joining this week, it's really sad to see how much of a mess this country is in
