Katkim, nice to see you back giving us an update, I was only wondering the other day how you were getting on with your preparations. Hope you have a successful trip, how long are you away for?

Hi Stew, sorry to hear you're having a bad few days. I hope you're feeling better and more motivated today. I know it's hard sometimes.

I'm off for just over a month, so I won't be back until May. First stop Hong Kong and then China (Guangzhou province) and then Singapore where I've got the work placement. It's just taken a while to line them all up so I'm not flying back and forth, and organising my visa. Just got the packing to do now. I'm nervous but hopeful at the same time.

I'm still looking for jobs here though, but I'm also noticing that there's hardly anything out there at the moment. I think it's about half then there were before Christmas. I hope it is a matter of companies waiting for a new financial year and things pick up and not a sign of the times.

I just got an email from a friend who's gone to Canada to look for work and she says that the job market is as slow there :( but she's enjoying living there despite the job hunt.

Drea - do you think they're real jobs being advertised? If not and they're the kind of ads purely to get people onto their books, that could be a reason why they're fobbing you off...

How exciting for you! You must tell us how you get on! I wish I had the guts to take a leap like that :)

I hadn't thought of them being fake jobs but that makes sense, I know some jobs they won't put me forward for but the couple I'm talking about now are perfect for me, I couldn't have anything more they want. They drive me up the wall :rotfl:

Arghhh! Agencies are driving me mad today! See the same roles come up, phone them to tell them I can do it (audio typist/reception - 3 years experience) and get fobbed off again and again. Do they do ANYTHING for their money?!?

    Stressed.

I know what you mean, These agencies are totally useless. I have just checked my bank account and they have put they money in they owe me for the 1 day's work I did for them but I have not received a pay slip in the post. I know I have to declare this days work to the JC so they can deduct it from my JSA but without a pay slip I have no proof

Good luck katkim, I hope you have a fantastic trip.

Starting to feel weird about my interviews this week, that I have messed up some chances. I can't even remember anything specific about them!

I have been reading all sorts on interview tips online, perhaps all these different opinions are wigging me out. Don't want to go into the weekend feeling lost :(

It's natural to feel negative about interviews you have had, You always go over in your head about things you could of done different or maybe said this or that. I am like you in that way LOL .. I have had a crap week myself with rejection letters and messed about by a agency I signed up to, Think I'll grab a bottle of wine tomorrow and have a relaxing weekend:j

Sounds like my week too, I'm officially unemployed as of today, and feeling rather down about it as I've been on gardening leave a little over three weeks now and I was hoping to have gotten something in line by now after the months of job hunting before gardening leave. Oh well, hopefully something will come up! :o

I completely gave up on agencies, they are totally useless at least the ones round here are :( All they seem to want you for is to pad their books out, I don't think they actually want to help anyone get a job.

    Afternoon all,

Well I spent most of the morning thinking it was Saturday :rotfl:, I guess that's another symptom of being unemployed.

I applied for a job this afternoon with an Agency that I have sent many email applications to in the past with never an acknowledgement. I completely changed my covering letter with this one to see if this would make any difference. It's a job that I could do everything without any problem at all, did them all in my previous job but I probably still won't hear anything.

I fancy a bottle of wine tomorrow as well but mine would have to be accompanied by a curry/chile. Maybe i'll dig out the slow cooker........

Try to have a good relaxing weekend all.
