    Afternoon all,

Well I spent most of the morning thinking it was Saturday :rotfl:, I guess that's another symptom of being unemployed.

  • I'm sick with nerves about my interview on Monday :( I'm really unsure how to prepare... the interview will be about company culture and how my personality will fit in with the team. I really don't know what type of questions I should be anticipating.

It doesn't help that I'm desperately unhappy in my temp role, I really want out!
  • Evening all

I found 3 jobs to apply for today so have been busy! One of them was for the Ministry of Justice Tribunals Service with a closing date on Monday which, for some reason, I hadn't found before. OMG - five forms it took me all afternoon, I had to dash out and get some large envelopes and it cost me 96p to post and I only just made the last post! Applying for jobs is more tiring than going to work!

So, anyone got any tips on keeping the rejection blues from keeping you down for too long? I got two rejection letters this week, which is depressing, and I just felt like crawling into bed and crying - yet I feel guilty and panic when I'm not searching or applying. What do you do to switch off? I feel like I'm neglecting my family, which also makes me feel super guilty.

Rejection is never nice so your reaction is understandable. The positive thing to remember is they took the time to send you a letter, many don't bother or simply phone. The attitude to take is it's their loss -Next! :p

Don't feel guilty about it, many people experience this job search frustration in their working lives and have to go through it several times. The job for life has gone and you are not alone. Take the weekend off and recharge batteries. Then Monday morning you continue to look for that job knowing you will succeed.

First of all forget that temp job, it keeps you in cash whilst you look for the job you want - a means to an end and TEMPORARY.

Focus on the interview and prepare logically and the nerves will recede. Start with the job description and do a web search on the company. Quite often there are "Mission & Vision" statements that give indicators of the aims and culture of the company. Using this and the job description list all the virtues that would make your job a success. Then do the same again but list all the negatives. From these you can then go onto imagining the questions and workplace situations that could come up in the interview.

Interview nerves are natural and can be overcome with preparation and a little self belief. Go into that room and calmly do your best.

    Good luck :cool2:

Well with a whole week gone and only 1 job to apply for surely April is the month things look up for us.

I really hope so as it's just occurred to me that school kids will be looking for work from May onwards after their exams. That brings in a whole new range of people looking for work that are cheaper to employ than us lot. Let's hope our experiences and qualifications start to work for us as it does slightly bother me

Yea, I sure hope my prediction of more jobs coming available with new budgets in the new financial year comes true.

Come on April, be THE lucky month for us all.

Im beginning to feel slightly optimistic, applied for 2 jobs at local toolstation(the monday to friday is my preference), 1 at screwfix 20 miles away, still not heard back frm maplins about a part time role and still to hear something back from bestbuy about a couple jobs applied for plus i should have an interview next week for a temp role. It could of course go belly up,

    Hi all,

I've found a few jobs to apply for the last couple of days so here's hoping. I really need a kick up the backside at the moment to get some momentum back in my life, anybody else getting fed up with the constant well meaning "any luck yet?" from friends because I am.

Last day of the financial year tomorrow, a lot of new budgets kick in next week. Lets hope we see some improvement then.

Yeah same here im losing motivation daily... And if one more person says "any luck yet" or "something will turn up" ill scream lol.
Although got appointment with routes to work advisor on Tue, so see if she has anything on their system that i might have missed....

Well I've applied for one job yesterday and found another to apply for today.

One trend I am noticing is very tight application time - the job I applied for was advertised on 31st March and closing date was 1st April! I suppose employers are able to get enough people to apply in short time and saves them wading through hundreds of forms.
