    Afternoon all,

I hope there is some luck around for us all this week.

Leave it until after 3 to search. I never look before then now as I just used to get frustrated that there was nothing new. Job Centre add jobs throughout the day when they get calls in from companies and put them on straight away so I leave it until late afternoon when I can be sure that any jobs from each day will be on the system by then

The only thing I would say about this is that the job centre once told me that sometimes jobs can be put on in the morning and removed after a couple of hours if there are a lot of applicants. I'm not sure how true that is but theirs is the only job site I look at a few times during the day. There always seems to be a few more jobs added about 4.00pm too.

Good luck to those preparing for interviews this week.

    Ah right I see.

Hardly anything new on there at all today for my area, and everything that is new are still engineer and cleaner jobs, that's all that seems to ever be advertised lately

Can't seem to get motivated today, I don't know what's wrong with me just really can't be bothered to trawl through the same old jobs again!

Just had a terrible month - proposed redundancy then applied for another position, feeling like there was nothing to worry about, to not get it and all though it's been a month, it only feels like I've had a week's notice. I smell something crafty, but can't put my finger on it.
I had been applying elsewhere but not intently.
I hate interviews - you rehearse and prepare answers and that's what they are, prepared and rehearsed. I've had one job interview that actually paid me for a shift to see whether we suited each other - that was more telling than an hour with a panel of shirts with narrow views and bad company lines up their sleeve.
BYT this is my 4th redundancy in 14 years
    Here I go again....

I know what you mean, there's nothing new around at all. Lets hope the rest of the week picks up

EDIT: just called the agency I'm with, they have nothing for the Easter holidays. Don't know why I bother.

Just got the no I expected from the international corporate, gutted still.
I worry most about disappointing the recruiter who went through the effort to get me the interview, that they won't help me again :(

They wouldn't tell me if I was really bad?
  • Well I didnt get the job. Im gutted I didn't get it but i'm more gutted about the feedback I got, which I honestly don't feel was justified. They said that I should have prepared examples for competency based questions (I did, I spent over a week preparing answers for every possible competency based question I could think of and gave a relevant answer for every question they asked in that vein), and that I should have given fuller answers to some of the questions - im baffled by that as I felt at times they were trying to get me to wind my answers up before I had finished so I don't see why they then said I didn't give full enough answers. I have never swotted so much for an interview in my life and I honestly don't think the feedback was justified.

I was chatting to a woman who worked there while I was waiting to go in for the interview and she made a strange comment to me about me not being one of the favourites - im starting to think they filled it internally and the interview process was just a pointless time wasting exercise.

To top it all off, I was also told that they have a strict scoring system and I wasn't one of the higher candidates, I was middling. Lol, just to make me feel even more rubbish.

    Ah well, onwards and upwards.

Sorry to hear that. You may be right that it may have gone internally, does make everything seem even more of a waste of time.

Just emailed back an application form to an agency, hope they will accept it as they wanted email addresses for my references and I don't have any, nor do I have a way to get them.

Also chased up another agency I sent an application form to a week ago and have heard nothing back. I honestly wonder how agencies actually do any business when they don't bother getting back to people

EDIT: Yes they want email addresses! how annoying! I can get one from my character reference but one of my referees was a manager at a shop, the shop don't have an email address and I can hardly phone after 2 years and ask for a personal one! The third one was from a school where I did voluntary and again I can't go asking for personal email addresses, and as she's teaching she probably doesn't get chance to check a school address.
