EDIT: Yes they want email addresses! how annoying! I can get one from my character reference but one of my referees was a manager at a shop, the shop don't have an email address and I can hardly phone after 2 years and ask for a personal one! The third one was from a school where I did voluntary and again I can't go asking for personal email addresses, and as she's teaching she probably doesn't get chance to check a school address.

I have that trouble with one of my references too, it was a huge company and they have email but they don't allow external mail through, it's only for use within the company! So pretty pointless giving them his email address ;)

It is daft isn't it? Don't places realise that not everyone has email addresses for their company.

On a positive note I have an interview date (at last) for Uni! :D Knew in January I was going to get one so just emailed a tutor I'm in contact with to find out when I'll hear from them with the exact date and she's told me. :D

EDIT: the agency are going to post one to the shop although they sounded reluctant to do that. Got a general email address for the school so hopefully that's taken care of

....follow up to being made redundant on Friday the bosses have now decided more things aren't being done which I can do and frankly do with my hands behind my back... wanting to use my experience, which allegedly they didn't know about, as a wedding planner to their advantage in events in the school... something seriously strange. Why didn't they offer me this as opposed to 'making' me apply for a job, they knew they didn't want to give me and go through a hellish wekend in the mean time?

This makes me want to say stuff it for screwing me over!

But who can afford to actually tell employers what you really think?:rotfl:
  • Nothing new to apply for today, although I did get an acknowledgement from one I applied for last week to say they hope to be in touch over the next few days.

I will be dreading going for interviews after that one last week, its totally knocked what little interview confidence I had. I really thought it had gone well too. Shows what I know hahaha :rotfl:

I gotta laugh, if I don't I will cry. I might be better off concentrating on my OU degree, and become an impoverished writer living on thin soup and writing by the light of a candle. I would prob be quite content.

You could write about all our awful experiences :rotfl:

Don't let that interview knock you. Just put it to one side and go to others with a positive frame of mind. remember it was their loss.

I've not found anything today either. :(

Twinkle, Sorry to hear about your experience, as Stephy said it's their loss. I've been knocked back a couple of times with the "internal candidate" one. I think some companies have to show that they are looking outside the firm even though they already have an internal candidate in mind. It's not fair as we'll probably put more work into the interview and will build our hopes up a lot more. Not the best way to start the week for you or November5th. I sometimes think it should be illegal to give rejections on a Monday just when we're thinking positive thoughts.

Just returned from signing on for the first time which was interesting. Very little quibble about the areas of work I wanted on my agreement nor the means I would use to find work. I expect having been a careers adviser until last Thursday might have cut down on the things to go through!

Mailed off job application so already hit one of my 3 activities this week and it's only Monday.

Off to trawl the jobsites now to see what's come in since Friday. Hope the week is positive for everyone.
  • I had my third and final interview today.... I don't think I did too great. The interviewers were lovely, very friendly etc but I don't think I sold myself as well as I should have :( oh dear... I think I've messed up. I've been on the brink of wanting to cry all day.

I really wanted this role... grr!!!!

You never know SV - it's often the interviews you convince yourself you've completely fluffed that end up offering you the job. They must have rated you to give you the 3rd i/v so don't sell yourself short.

    Best of luck.
