That's great Twinkle. You should feel proud of yourself. Good luck with the interview preparation.0 -
Had a weird one yesterday. A recruiter called about a job I had applied for to find out more about me. I gave a very brief pitch, she then said we don't have anything suitable.
Now my pitch did not deviate from what was on my CV, so why did she call?
I answered the call while digging over my new garden and was slightly out of breath, and I told her that was what I was doing, would that have counted against me?
Ah well, just seemed odd.
Interview with another recruiter at two pm today, beginning to wonder why I am doing so well with recruiters but now getting through to employers. These are really good name recruiters so i don't feel I am just being harvested...0 -
Goood morning campers!
I get to sign on today, fabulous :rotfl:
When I get back I have a couple application forms to do, quick look for new jobs then I'm leaving the job hunt until Monday again. I have that Friday feelingJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Oh almost forgot, I was speaking to my old Director last night in Edinburgh and he is going to look into a property auction company down here for me and find out the lay of the land. I'm going to send him a letter because I could walk into a job there and do well. So fingers crossed something comes of that even though they aren't advertising any vacancies.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0

Hi all, I have been looking for a new job recently, having moved out of London, and I'm finding it quite hard to move into a new area of work
Sorry if this has been discussed before (couldn't get through all 66 pages!) but does anyone have any idea which general 'job sites' are worth looking/using and which arent?
I am finding it increasingly difficult to search when some sites are utterly useless - the 'search by location' function brings up jobs on the other side of the country to me!
Where possible I try to use the recruiter's own website (adecco, hays, etc) but sometimes I do go through a job site's online form/application (like jobsite, or total jobs) and I worry sometimes that they just dont work properly, the recruiters/employers dont get the applications, etc. Maybe i'm just paranoid about that bit tho!
Currently I regularly check out several recruitment companies' websites as well as the following generic 'job sites':
totaljobs
jobsite
monster
reed
are there any others that people can recommend (or warn me about for being useless!) ??? there are so many out these it's hard to know which are real and which are dodgy.
thanks!! and best of luck with all your job hunts!!Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....
Why Put Off Until Tomorrow What You Can Do Today? :A0 -
I got a rejection letter this morning from an interview I went to last week
I'm away from home right now and my mum rang me about the letter. I told her to open it and it was what I thought. They said I can't apply again for 4 months. The job was minimum wage retail and I've been working in that industry for 6 years. The interview went well but I guess I didn't fit all of their requirements (whatever they were).
I'm starting a Makeup course tomorrow which gives me something to do. I want to become a freelance Makeup Artist but I need a job on the side to supplement it *sigh*0 -
I've had another rejection letter this morning. I'm now up to 25 jobs I've applied for so farSaved: £1566.53/ £20000

This is the list I posted a while ago, some of the sites may not be relevent to you though:
Jobsite (the best by far in my opinion, don't forget to upload your CV)
Local council websites.
JobsGoPublic (though they only add vacancies in my city on a Monday AM)
Reed
TotalJobs
Monster (not all that great)
Fish4Jobs
Gumtree
Job Centre Plus
Third Sector
Guardian (not all that great for 'normal' jobs up here)
Civilservice.gov.uk
Goodmoves
All The Top Bananas
Indeed (great for days I only have chance for a quick check)
Milkround
Prospects
Hope that helps.0 -
I used a lot of the websites already listed (jobsite, reed, job centre plus, local council website, prospects, fish4jobs, total jobs) but I had much more luck with the local paper (on their website). I also uploaded my CV to cvlibrary.0
