I've spent the afternoon having discussions (arguements!) with the benefit people. All really nice people to talk to but they don't know their backside from their elbow. Still it looks like i'm getting somewhere now though nothing will happen till next week.

Drea, I've found one job on line today in Cardiff that i'm thinking about but not sure if you'd be interested or not. It's for a Store Manager for the Simply Pleasure shop. :rotfl:

Just had a phone call from a agency. I applied for a job through them about 3 weeks ago, They want me to do them a favour and go to this site tomorrow and help tidy up then they promised if I did this for them that they would find me extra employment when this job was over. I said I would do it just to basically get some extra pounds in the bank, Only thing I worry about is signing off and how much of a struggle it might be to sign back on after this job finishes and if they don;t find me other work :S

Don't believe that they will find you other work, you only need to look at what's happened to me to see that they don't always tell you the truth. I don't trust agencies at all anymore after today

I do kind of get that feeling about agencies. I have had many bad experiences with some in the past. I'll just do this couple of weeks work and see how it goes. I hate working for a week or 2 tho and never knowing what's happening but I think the way the climate is that proper full time work is very hard to come by.

I may be wrong but I just don't think they should promise to get anyone work for doing something else for them. But definitely take what they are offering, any work is better than none :)

I had to do a rapid reclaim today for this first time after signing off two weeks ago. It was really straight forward, and I was in and out of the job centre within half an hour. Because all my info was the same it was pretty simple, they just set me up a new agreement.

I wouldn't let it put you off at all.

Exactly that's what I was thinking, It's a win win situation really, Puts some money in the bank for a few week which is better than JSA.

I told him I would be there tomorrow, They do kind of have you by the gonads tho. I know very well that If I didn't do this favour for them that they would not even consider me for the job which I originally applied for with them a few week ago

Well first day with this agency, Not sure what to make of all this to be honest LOL ... I just can't trust agencies. I could be working no more than a week knowing these lot, I'll hope for the best tho and fingers crossed more work comes from it
  • Im gonna spend the day swotting for my interview next week, and preparing answers to all the horrible nightmarish questions that I am no doubt gonna get asked. Its a job with the local council so it will be a panel interview (eeeeeeek!!!), and will probably be full of gems such as 'Tell me about a time you overcame adversity'. So I need to be totally prepared or I will waffle a load of rubbish.

On a happy note, though not work related, I got my first Open University assessment back and scored 80 percent.! Im so chuffed. And at least now I know i'm not toally useless :rotfl:
