So annoyed with myself! I've just been for my interview for the job I really want. I completely messed it up! They hardly asked me anything, obviously I should have been in there telling them how good I was and how I fit in with the company but I just floundered and they just kept looking at me expecting something but my head was gone. At the end with the questions, I asked two and they still kept looking at me and I just couldn't think of any others.

Yet if I go for an interview for a job I'm not particularly bothered about I can sail through it.

Should really phone the agency to let them know how it went but no idea what to say to them! I'm such an idiot, there was a good job and I messed it up. Best wage I'd ever have had, 38 days holiday a year, all bank hols off and the day after and only working 9am - 4.30pm. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

Ooh just got a letter this morning for an interview next week. Very doubtful I will get it as I have absolutely no experience (it's an admin job) but it's just good to get an interview. A little bit annoying that I have to wait 9 days though, 9 days of panicking :o

Think positive, Drea. Most of us tend of be overly critical, especially when you really want to make a good impression.

Good luck, lexilex!! The wait is horrible, especially when you're itching to go, but at least you have time to prepare well :)

    Drea,

I'll echo what katkim said, also an interview is a two way thing, it's not all down to you to make the interview go down well. The interviewer as well is expected to make some of the running. My interview last week I hardly got a chance to say anything, the interviewer just kept talking about how good the company were to work for (usually a bad sign in my view).

Lexilex, I too much prefer the interviews to be sooner rather than later. Less time to stress about it.

    Have a good day all.

Drea, I am sure it wasn't as bad as you have made out. Did they say when they will let you know of their decision? The wait is the worst.

Katkim, I am absolutely rubbish at interviews, whether I have time to prepare or not :o I would rather they give me no time to prepare, at least then I have an excuse for been awful!

Thanks all, they said they'd make a decision later today or tomorrow morning and let my agency know. I highly doubt it's me though.

I was okay about it up until last night when someone from the agency phoned and told me to go there first before the interview and she just stressed how important it all was, that really got me nervous and then I didn't get the person spec and job details until 10pm last night and all today was rushing around to get to the agency first then the interview and I think it just all stressed me out a bit too much.

I'm generally rubbish at interviews anyway!

If worst comes to worst, at least you'll have some valuable interview practice, lexilex.

When I graduated, I asked a family friend to ask someone they worked with to give me mock interviews, someone I didn't know. It was quite helpful (if scary!). The more experience I got, the more normal interviews became, and I could work out where I was going wrong and fix it for next time.
  • Sorry to hear about the interview Drea, but sometimes you never know. I once floundered in an interview but still got the post, I think it came across as honesty.
It's funny, I am great in meetings, find it very easy to make my points and make a sale, but when it comes to interviews I get very flustered.
Trying to get my CV so good this week that the interview is quite secondary, if I can get the employer quite sure they want me on board before the interview, I can relax.
I am working on the positive affirmations, 'when I get a job' 'I will get this job' 'I deserve this job', I am surprised how negative I felt last year.

That is my plan, I doubt I will get the job, it's admin and there are loads of people with experience in this kind of job where as I have none, but it's all interview practice.

So far applied for one job today, very few ads again but it's job day tomorrow :j

Mum just told me someone at her work is pregnant which means maternity leave! So I have just sent spec letters to different people within the company. Worth a try!
