  • Thanks.

Im only a care assistant, the amount was paid directly into Monster Mugs Ltd‘s account via co T/T- as stated on an email “ 20% discount will apply if you paid for full amount”.

i will need to escalate this up in our next team meeting before i can do that.

I payed around £320 for goods which were never recieved. Despite letters and phonecalls no response was obtained, until I sent an e-mail saying I'd been in touch with the police. This prompted a very swift apology, giving a recent car accident as the reason for lack of response. Unbeknown to Monster Mugs they were actively in touch with me via a bogus e-mail I'd set up pretending to make another enquiry about a large purchase, so I knew that all was not legitimate. Needless to say the offer of a refund didn't materialise into anything.

I started a claim through the small claims court, using the government gateway. Despite the company moving address during the proceedings, they were served notice, had (another) county court judgement served on them and finally had them visited bythe baliffs (twice, as they weren't in the first time). I'm now the very happy owner of a cheque from Preston Crown Court for £480, covering my payment and court costs (you have to pay up front).

The process is very simple to undertake online and I would encourage anyone who has made a payment without receiving goods to take similar action. First write a letter (you can try recorded delivery although they'll probably refuse it) and then follow the government gateway process.

Best of luck to you all,

    Standytech.

    M5hto, welcome to the forums.

    Are to a business buyer?
If so you may not have all the purchasing protection that consumers do.

I know it is not a lot of use to everyone trying to get their money back, but if you are still in need of mugs I can highly reccomend this company who I have used several times and found to be very helpful.

They were also on the sheriffs are coming - a bailiff program on bbc1 - they were collecting payment for an order not received or something along those lines so it seems they are a lot out there after money from them.

We ordered some mugs from Monster Mugs' sister company, Focus Branding, Prints and Promotional, last year around October time. After a number of excuses (everything from problems with colour and missing printer drivers through to bank transfers going missing) we are still awaiting a full refund.

Our contact there was a chap called [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM], who offered more excuses than we could shake a stick at. We try to build friendly, trusting partnerships with our suppliers from the off, so in the early stages we gave him the benefit of the doubt. After 2 months, though, we lost patience and asked for a refund. We gave [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM] a suitable amount of time to pay back the money he had in his possession. He sent us a screenshot of the supposed bank transfer that he had set up (never materialised) and came out with further excuses about BACS payment limits and bank trace periods.

We have now actioned our in-house policy on such matters, which is currently in process. We reported the matter to Action Fraud and subsequently the City of London Police Force, who are currently investigating the situation. We have also actioned our debt collection partners who are also investigating the matter at the moment.

I would encourage anyone who has had dealings with Monster Mugs to report the company to actionfraud.org.uk in order for your experience to be added to the investigation and growing evidence against **, Monster Mugs and Focus Branding.

Sorry to hear that, bigthyme. Do let us know how you get on. We will keep you up to date with our investigations and the fraud / Police investigations currently on the go with respect to Monster Mugs.

Have you lodged a formal submission with Action Fraud? If not I would encourage you to do so to enable the Police / National Fraud Bureau to further strengthen their evidence against (text removed by MSE Forum Team) and Monster Mugs.

    Dani99,

Sorry to hear of your experiences at the hands of [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM]. Unfortunately you are not alone, but you'll be pleased to know the Police and National Fraud Desk are currently involved in an investigation into Monster Mugs / Focus Branding / [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM] and we are helping them with their enquiries.

They are collating evidence to help them in their investigation so I would recommend submitting your experiences to actionfraud dot org dot uk so your situation can be included in the overall case against [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM].

A quick update from us: [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM] contacted us today by email to tell us the outstanding amount owed to us will be paid today by BACS. We will monitor the situation and continue to give updates in this thread if the payment does not arrive in the next couple of days, as well as anything we are allowed to post from our Police contacts.
