Anyone else taking Lionbridge Exam next week?

Ive been emailing Lionbridge asking questions about how to count and time tasks etc. I asked your question, about the 2 part tasks and they told me you count it as 2 tasks.

Ooooops..................I've recorded all mine as one!! Therefore 2 submits have been logged as one task. I'm not going back through them all now..............

I think this is the hardest part............I can't think of any other new job you start where you just jump straight in and no-one offers you any input..............I have absolutely no idea if I'm doing okay or not!!

They said it didnt matter too much if we got the number of tasks a little out, the time being correct is more important

I know ! I think Im doing ok on the Type 7 tasks, because Im not getting a lot back unresolved and have got my t-p-h rate up to something reasonable but Ive not idea how Im doing on the other stuff. I hate type 5 tasks, cant see how youre supposed to do them so quickly and Im not sure Im rating them right ! My heart sinks when I log in and thats all thats available, lol :rotfl:

does this company not know London? doesn't appear to be an option on the application form to say you live in the region/county of London (or greater london). very strange!

I know the feeling Milltowngirl, that dread feeling when all you see is type 5! Hitting refresh a few times until you realise you're going to have to acquire them! :rotfl:

I was recording the two parter as one at the end of both parts so thanks for letting u know they should be two aswell!

Had a bit of a hectic weekend so trying to get motivated and get some hours logged! Happy rating everyone!

Does anybody get error messages appearing (XML parsing error) when rating a certain task?

I either get an error or a blank page - this cant be right for sure! I have emailed LB but no reply as yet. Its quite bad though as i cant do anymore work until this is sorted or i get another task type.

Pain!

Hopefully will get some long awaited feedback this week after TS has been looked at.

I have previously had this when rating certain type 7 tasks but normally it is a couple of times per "set" of tasks. However this morning I would say about 90% of mine have had an error/blank page and wonder whether it is an error their end? I managed to finish the "set" and it seems to be OK now I have "normal" type 7 tasks.
Having said that - I logged off to get a cup of tea etc and now can't get back onto the Portal - so I can't work at the minute either!


Re feedback - I know if you go into the feedback section of the Portal there is now updated feedback for the type 7 tasks.

Hi, I'm a newbie rater too. Passed the exam last week and had planned to start rating today - but I can't get into the portal either!

I'm feeling a bit nervous about this job after reading the stern comments on the portal. I can't imagine being able to rate that quickly and be accurate too. Surely you'll miss things if you only have a minute or so to decide? I'm having visions of being booted off in the first week!

I've been doing some of the training over the weekend. Did anybody else find that in the new rater quizzes, some of the answers didn't seem to relate to the page you were looking at? Like the page had been updated since the question was set and new info etc had been added/removed. Trying not to breach the NDA here, I was marked wrong a few times because supposedly there wasn't a particular thing on the page - yet I could see it clearly!

I also wondered how you know how to do tasks other than the ones we did in the exam. I can only see instructions for one other type. And how do you know what type it is as per the productivity metrics? Will this all become clear as I go along? If anyone has any advice, please PM me. It seems very strange to be starting a new job with no-one there to show you what to do or answer your questions. I'm not feeling very confident at all!

Am having problems with just about everything today!!! Can't log on, not receiving the captch message, LP's won't load, even when I know they should. I literally can't do anything! Have emailed for assistance but still no response.

Typical! I spent all day yesterday catching up on "house" stuff so I could spend the morning working solidly! Grrrr
